🕊️ In Loving Memory of Dr. Maria Lourdes D. Catral 🕊️

It is with profound sadness that the College of Home Economics community announces the passing of Dr. Maria Lourdes D. Catral, former Dean of the College of Home Economics (2012–2013) and one of the pillars of the UP Diliman Dept. of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (UPD DHRIM).

Dr. Catral served the University with distinction and dedication. As a former College Dean and Department Chair of DHRIM, her leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence played a vital role in shaping the department and the college. Her legacy continues through the faculty, students, and alumni whose lives she guided and inspired.

The CHE community extends its deepest sympathies to her family, friends, colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of working with her. She will be remembered for her invaluable contributions to the University, her mentorship, and her steadfast service.

The Student Relations Office formally releases its response statement to present the facts and relevant documentation pertaining to the recent social media posts made by the College of Home Economics – Student Council and Sigla Magazine. Attached herewith is the official memorandum outlining the SRO’s position on the matter.

Brewing Knowledge, One Cup at a Time!

The College of Home Economics, through the UP Diliman Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (DHRIM), proudly highlights “𝐁𝐢𝐧𝐡𝐢 𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐨: 𝐀 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬,” an experiential learning event organized by the students of the Event Management class (DO-ZE Events).

This event is the first of its kind — a coffee cupping workshop featuring Philippine coffee beans sourced from various coffee-producing regions across the country. It is held in partnership with the Philippine Coffee Board, highlighting the diversity and richness of local coffee while promoting appreciation for sustainable Philippine coffee practices.

The session features two esteemed industry leaders:

Ms. Pacita “Chit” Juan — Author, Founder of Echostore, and Chair, Philippine Coffee Board Inc.
