“Tara na, Isko at Iska”: MSU-Maguindanao Welcomes Freshmen Through Freshmen Salubong 2026

The Supreme Student Council (SSC), together with the different student organizations of Mindanao State University–Maguindanao, warmly welcomed the university’s freshmen through “Tara na, Isko at Iska: Freshmen Salubong 2026” on August 17, 2026, at the Datu Odin Sinsuat Gymnasium.

The activity started with a lively parade led by the ROTC Band. Freshmen entered the gymnasium with their respective banner bearers, where they were welcomed along the aisle by their college officers and greeted with chants and cheers from different colleges and departments.

One of the highlights of the activity was the Opening Salvo, where different student organizations showcased their performances to welcome the freshmen. This was followed by a message from Dr. Ramjie Y. Odin, Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Development, who welcomed the freshmen and emphasized how fortunate they were to experience a warm and memorable welcome as they begin their journey at MSU-Maguindanao.

The fun continued with a series of parlor games, bringing together not only the freshmen but also student leaders and members of different organizations. The games added more energy to the afternoon and gave the students a chance to meet and interact with one another outside the classroom.

As the afternoon heat continued, the SSC officers also treated the freshmen to free ice cream, giving everyone a refreshing break before the program continued with a welcoming party filled with music, performances, and more opportunities for students to enjoy the celebration.

The activity concluded with a closing message from Emelthon D. Mabang, OIC-President of the Supreme Student Council, who encouraged the freshmen to embrace their new journey, get involved in university life, and make the most of their time as MSUans. He also reminded them that their college journey is not only about academics, but also about building friendships, discovering their strengths, and becoming part of a larger community.

The successful conduct of Freshmen Salubong 2026 would not have been possible without the support and cooperation of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Development (OVSSD), its directors, the College Deans and Directors, and the different student organizations of the university.

The SSC also extends its gratitude to University Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona for her continued support in making programs like this possible.

More than just a welcome, “Tara na, Isko at Iska” was a celebration of a new beginning—welcoming the newest members of the MSU-Maguindanao community with energy, friendship, and the spirit of being an MSUan.

MSU-Maguindanao Welcomes Academic Year 2026–2027 Through General Orientation

Mindanao State University–Maguindanao officially welcomed Academic Year 2026–2027 through its General Orientation on August 17, 2026, at the Datu Odin Sinsuat Gymnasium.

The activity opened with a welcome message from University Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona, who warmly welcomed the students, especially the freshmen. She emphasized the university’s commitment to developing students who can contribute to the growth and development of the Bangsamoro. She also reminded students that being an MSUan means serving others with integrity and purpose.

The orientation then introduced the university’s Vice Chancellors, along with their respective offices, duties, and mandates.

Dr. Marissa N. Parcon, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, led the OVCAA orientation and introduced the College Deans, Academic Heads, and faculty members.

Mdm. Angelita T. Datucan, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, presented the OVCAF orientation and introduced the heads of the different administrative offices and their functions.

For the university overview, Mr. Yusseph Untong, Technical Assistant from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, discussed the university’s direction and plans for the coming years. He presented the new Five-Year Development Plan (FYDP) 2026–2030, including its five major goals, as well as the university’s new Vision, Mission, and Core Values. He also introduced the university tagline, “Weaving Peace. Shaping Leaders,” and its moniker, “Buffalo.”

One of the main parts of the orientation was the presentation on Student Services by Dr. Ramjie Y. Odin, Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Development. He introduced the different services available to students and shared the office’s plan to develop a digital platform that will make these services easier to access. The different directors under the office also presented their services and discussed important student policies, including the Dress Code Policy and Student ID Policy.

The program also featured a virtual campus and organization tour prepared by the Supreme Student Council (SSC). The tour introduced students to the university’s facilities, student organizations, and the two campuses of MSU-Maguindanao—the Datu Odin Sinsuat Campus and the Parang Campus. It gave students, especially the freshmen, a quick look at the places, organizations, and opportunities available to them as members of the university community.

The activity concluded with a message from Asst. Prof. Julmaherria Salipada, Director of the Office of Student Services Operations and Digitalization. She reminded students to make the most of their university experience, take advantage of the opportunities available to them, and grow not only as students but also as responsible members of the MSU-Maguindanao community.

The General Orientation gave students a clear introduction to the university, its offices, services, policies, and opportunities as they begin another academic year as MSUans.
