𝐌𝐒𝐔-𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐒𝐔-𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐤𝐞

Following the recent earthquake that caused significant damage to Mindanao State University–General Santos, the MSU-Maguindanao community responded to the call for assistance by extending support to its sister campus.

With reported damages reaching approximately ₱900 million, MSU-Maguindanao gathered available resources to help address the immediate needs of the affected community. The University provided 500 sacks of rice and 300 gallons of drinking water.

Financial assistance was also extended by various university organizations and stakeholders. The MSU-Maguindanao Cooperative (MAGIC Coin) donated ₱30,000, the Mindanao State University Faculty Union (MINSUFAFU) contributed ₱38,000, the Mindanao State University-Maguindanao Administrative Staff Association (MINSUMASA) provided ₱20,000, and the Supreme Student Council (SSC) turned over ₱60,000 in financial assistance.

On June 15, 2026, MSU-Maguindanao officials led by Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona and represented by Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Marissa N. Parcon and Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance Madame Angelita T. Datucan, together with SSC President Rhejam M. Omar, delivered the donations to MSU-General Santos.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Development (OVCSSD) presents the newly designated Directors of its key student service offices following the approval of Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona.

Under the leadership of OVCSSD Vice Chancellor Dr. Ramjie Y. Odin, the Directors will oversee their respective offices in providing programs and services that support student welfare, development, and engagement across the University.

The establishment of OVCSSD is anchored on national standards for Student Affairs and Services in higher education as outlined in CMO No. 09, s. 2013, and on the authority of the MSU Board of Regents to create, reorganize, and transfer units in support of the University's mandate.

Mindanao State University–Maguindanao joins the Bangsamoro community and the Muslim Ummah in observing ’Amun Jadid, the Islamic New Year and the first day of Muharram.

This occasion is a time for reflection, renewal, and gratitude as it commemorates the Hijrah, the migration of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Makkah to Madinah. It reminds us of the values of faith, perseverance, and unity that continue to guide and inspire us.

As we begin the new Islamic year, may it strengthen our faith and encourage us to continue promoting peace and compassion in our communities.

On June 12, 1898, the Philippine flag was first raised in Kawit, Cavite, marking the declaration of Philippine independence. On the same historic occasion, the national anthem, Marcha Nacional Filipina, was publicly performed, symbolizing the Filipino people's aspiration for freedom, dignity, and self-determination.

The nation commemorates the 128th Philippine Independence Day, and we are reminded that freedom remains a continuing responsibility.

As we honor the sacrifices of our heroes, we are called to protect the liberties they fought for and actively contribute to the progress of our nation.

Mindanao State University–Maguindanao, led by Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona, and Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila, headed by President Atty. Roberto P. Laurel formally entered into a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding held on June 9, 2026, at the LPU-Manila Campus.

The partnership strengthens MSU-Maguindanao’s strategic linkages and opens wider opportunities for research, scholarly immersion, community engagement, capacity-building, and institutional development.

Mindanao State University–Maguindanao Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona paid a courtesy visit to Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (PAPRU) Secretary Mel Senen S. Sarmiento on June 9, 2026 in Pasig City.

During the meeting, Chancellor Limbona presented the completed and ongoing partnerships between MSU-Maguindanao and OPAPRU, highlighting the University’s initiatives and collaborative efforts in advancing the implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (UNSCR 1325) on Women, Peace and Security. Secretary Sarmiento commended MSU-Maguindanao for its contributions and programs that directly align with the commitments and objectives of the CAB and UNSCR1325.

The discussion also focused on ways to further strengthen and expand existing initiatives by exploring broader and more sustainable approaches that will create greater impact among partner communities.

Secretary Sarmiento emphasized the importance of working closely with the people, underscoring that meaningful and lasting development is achieved when communities are active partners in the process. He further highlighted that empowering communities and strengthening their sense of ownership enable them to sustain and protect the gains of peace and development.

The meeting was also attended by OPAPRU Office for Bangsamoro Transformation, Executive Director Cesar D. De Mesa, Peace Program Officer V Erlinda Vila, and Ms. Alicia Raymundo. Representing MSU–Maguindanao were Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Sustainable Global Engagements Dr. Raquel D. Santiago-Arenas, Peace Engagement and Community Empowerment Director Dr. Saima S. Maulana, Special Assistant to the Office the Chancellor Grant Warren D. Lu, Information, Press, and Publication Office Director Bai Aljannah Macalandong, and Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao Director Alvin Lois Pembarat.
