CCEL Director Raymond Chris Maribojoc together with his staffs, visited the relocation site in Dicayas today to monitor the community development projects that have been implemented. The projects, which include a talipapa, a communal comfort room, and a hand washing area, were all funded by the PNP JLC and MPM Program of SVCI. The purpose of the visit was to ensure that the projects were being sustained and maintained, and to gather feedback from the community members on how the projects were being used.

The CCEL team was pleased to see that the projects were in good condition and that the community members were using them regularly. They also gathered valuable feedback from the community members, which will be used to improve the projects in the future.

The CCEL team is committed to ensuring that the community development projects in Dicayas are sustainable and effective. They are grateful for the opportunity to work with the community members to make a positive difference in their lives.

REPOST:
St. Vincent’s College Incorporated and the Philippine Red Cross-Zamboanga del Norte Chapter jointly launched a photo exhibit last August 19, 2019 at the SVCI New Building Lobby to mark the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Month.

With the theme “Protecting the defenseless in times of armed conflict,” the exhibit also promoted the seven fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. These principles are: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality.

Moreover, the activity complies with the first pillar of the JEEPGY program. SVCI implements JEEPGY as a partner institution of the Catholic Education Association of the Philippines (CEAP). The JEEPGY pillars are: Justice and Peace; Ecological Integrity; Engaged Citizenship; Poverty Reduction; Gender Equality; and Youth Empowerment. These pillars are included as themes in the entire school culture including policies, researches, campus practices and curricula aimed towards transformative education.

Sources added the IHL Office of the Red Cross disseminates the basics on the IHL and advocates domestic legislation and measures to implement provisions of the Geneva Conventions. In the Philippines, this resulted to the passage of Republic Act 9851 or the 2009 Philippine Act on Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide and Other Crimes Against Humanity.

SVCI President Rev. Fr. Nathaniele A. Denlaoso, Citi Mall Supervisor Maria Zabeth T. Tan, Dipolog Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Mandel Zoe Lugasan and Dr. Joseph G. Refugio (in photo) cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the exhibit. Also in attendance were SVCI students, faculty and Red Cross representatives. Vincent Lanz Sigasig and Jolina Mencias of SVCI Senior High hosted the event.
