The Paulinian Student Government of St. Paul University Dumaguete, together with Ms. Jeneviev Deang, RGC, Director for Guidance Services, was honored to facilitate the 𝐒𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, centered on the theme “𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭.”

Through meaningful discussions, engaging activities, reflective spiritual encounters, and collaborative experiences, the training empowered the student leaders from Siquijor State College to discover their strengths, strengthen their sense of responsibility, and understand that effective leadership is a continuous movement toward service, growth, and positive transformation.

Today, we celebrate 𝐒𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧, 𝐒𝐏𝐂, as she marks her 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐞 — 𝟔𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 since her entrance into the 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭. 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬.

𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐎𝐘 𝐀𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐍𝐎 𝐃𝐀𝐘 | 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Today, we remember and honor the life, courage, and sacrifice of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., a man who stood firmly for freedom, democracy, and the Filipino people even in the face of great danger.

His journey reminds us that true courage is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to stand for what is right despite it. His sacrifice became a symbol of the Filipino people’s longing for freedom and a reminder of the importance of protecting the democracy that generations before us fought hard to restore.

“𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫.”

These words continue to echo through generations, reminding us of the value of our nation and the responsibility we carry as Filipinos. May Ninoy’s legacy inspire us to remain courageous, speak up for what is right, and use our freedom to help build a better Philippines for everyone.

ADVISORY

In view of the scheduled university-wide orientations and safety preparedness activities, St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) will suspend regular classes on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Students are advised to accomplish the self-paced learning activities provided by their respective teachers.

University offices will be closed for the entire day to enable all university personnel to participate in the scheduled activities.

Regular classes and university operations will resume on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Further announcements, if necessary, will be released through the University's official communication channels.

Safety is a continuing commitment.

At St. Paul University Dumaguete, we continue to strengthen our culture of awareness, preparedness, and care. As part of this continuing commitment, we have extensively strengthened our campus security measures, including tighter access control and the limitation of designated entrances and exits. These measures are in place to help safeguard our students, faculty, staff, and visitors and to ensure that our campus remains a safe and secure learning environment.

We also remind everyone to remain familiar with the basic options during an active threat: RUN • HIDE • FIGHT.

These are not steps to follow in sequence. The safest response depends on the situation:

RUN — If there is a safe way out, move away from danger and proceed to a safe location.

HIDE — If you cannot safely escape, secure your space: lock, barricade, silence, and stay out of sight.

FIGHT — If danger is immediate and there is no safer option, defend yourself as a last resort.

For our younger learners, safety responses should always be “age-appropriate” and guided by teachers and responsible adults.

We understand that strengthened security measures and controlled access may sometimes require additional time, patience, and adjustment from everyone. We sincerely ask for your continued patience and cooperation as our security personnel and designated personnel carry out these measures. Every identification check, access restriction, and safety procedure is part of our collective effort to protect the Paulinian community.

Let us continue to look after one another, remain vigilant and informed, and respond with calmness, responsibility, and care, not out of fear, but because the safety of our community is a shared responsibility.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work together toward a safer and more secure SPUD.
