🌱 Tanim Tayo, Grow Daro 🌱

There are moments that ask nothing of you but presence; to kneel into the soil, to hold something small and living, and to remember that growth is rarely loud. It is patient, it is shared, and it asks to be tended by more than one pair of hands.

On July 19, the Silliman Economics Society partnered with the Silliman University College of Agriculture for “Tanim Tayo, Grow Daro!”, an outreach extended to the community of PWD Daro.

What began as a lecture on urban farming became, in truth, an exchange; skills given, stories received, and a quiet understanding that empowerment is not something handed down, but something grown together.

Perhaps this is an economic lesson that we can integrate into our lives for which we can offer: no market, no model, no measure of growth means anything apart from the people it is meant to serve. 🫂💚

Last July 8, SES engaged in a day of meaningful ground interactions alongside international volunteers from Hannam University. The initiatives included a clean-up drive across selected areas of the Silliman University campus, as well as a feeding program and cultural exchange activities at Amador Dagudag Memorial Elementary School.

A huge thank you to the KOICA Daejeon Center, through Dr. Younsik Shin, and the SU-HNU KOICA DX Center Dumaguete, led by Dr. Wilma Tejero Libarios and Mr. Kyoungmin Lee, for organizing this impactful day of global-local partnership and community service.

New members and officers, still the same family. 🙌🔰

On June 17, the Silliman Economics Society officially opened its doors to its newest members, inducted the incoming officers, and gathered every year level under one roof for its General Assembly.

From orienting the freshmen to unveiling this academic year’s lineup of events — it was not just a meeting. It was a reminder of why we do what we do: to learn together, grow together, and build something worth belonging to.
