♣️ SUDS at the CIDA Novice Cup 2026 ♥️

Held on February 21–22, 2026 via Discord, the CIDA Novice Cup saw outstanding performances from the Silliman University Debate Society. 🌟

Representing SUDS, Mary Anne Lechido and Nizza Noreen Lumaya of Senior High School emerged as the 1st High School Breaking Team and the 1st Open Reserve Breaking Team, concluding their impressive run as Open Quarterfinalists. 🏆✨

In adjudication, Reyan Calumpang of AB Political Science II also broke as an adjudicator and served as an Open Pre-Quarterfinals Judge. ⚖️

SUDS proudly commends its delegates for their dedication, excellence, and continued pursuit of competitive growth in parliamentary debate.

♣️ SUDS in partnership with the NOHS Socratic Society: Debate Workshop ♥️

On February 25, 2026, in collaboration with The Socratic Society of Negros Oriental High School, the Silliman University Debate Society (SUDS) successfully conducted a lecture-workshop on the art and fundamentals of debating.

The session introduced participants to the principles of argumentation, structure, and effective delivery, equipping them with foundational tools for meaningful and reasoned discourse. Through interactive discussions and guided exercises, students were encouraged to engage confidently and think critically. 🎤📚

SUDS remains committed to expanding access to debate education through partnerships that cultivate informed, articulate, and empowered debaters, ready to stand for more and unfold the truth.

♣️ Silliman Junior Debate Camp – Season 2 ♥️

In partnership with Silliman University Elementary School, the Silliman University Debate Society successfully held Season 2 of the Silliman Junior Debate Camp last February 14 and 21. 🌟

The initiative gathered young debaters from across Dumaguete, including participants from Saint Paul University and Holy Cross Elementary School, creating a space for meaningful dialogue, learning, and growth.

The Debate Workshop on February 14 equipped students with essential skills in argumentation, critical thinking, and teamwork, culminating in the Tournament Proper on February 21, where participants confidently demonstrated what they had learned.

The team “Logical Leaders” from Silliman University Elementary School emerged as tournament champions. The courage, insight, and sportmanship showcased by all teams made the event a true celebration of young minds in discourse.

At SUDS, we continue to nurture future leaders who dare to stand for more and unfold the truth.

Held on February 7–8, the Silliman University Debate Society proudly celebrates the achievements of its delegates.

🌟 Team SU A, composed of Lourd Anque, ranked 8th Best Highschool Speaker of the Visayas, and Julia Sarenas, advanced as Highschool Semifinalists and the 4th High School Breaking Team.

🏆 Meanwhile, Team SU B, represented by Mary Anne Lechido and Nizza Noreen Lumaya, reached the Highschool Pre-Semifinals as the 7th High School Breaking Team.

The Society also recognizes Jasper Bryle Bayking and Reyan Calumpang for serving as Competing Adjudicators, reflecting SUDS’ continued commitment to excellence in parliamentary debate. ❤️✨

Representing the Silliman University Debate Society, Team SU A—composed of Joy Contrano (BS Public Administration II) and Alexandria Jordan (BS Foreign Affairs II)—emerged as the 5th Union Cup Breaking Team and advanced as Union Cup Grandfinalists at the National Debate Championship Morayta 2026. 🏆✨

In adjudication, Denver Jimenez (Medical Technology I) also represented SUDS as a Competing Adjudicator, contributing to the rigor and excellence of the tournament. ⚖️

♣️ SUDS in the Diliman Pre-World Universities Debating Championship 2025. ♥️

From November 29–30, 2025, the Silliman University Debate Society proudly competed in the Pre-World Universities Debating Championship 2025. Representing SUDS, "SU-Yin & Yang:, composed of Lourd Anque and Raymond Lecraw from SUSHS, advanced to the Grandfinals as the 3rd Breaking Team. In the individual category, Raymond Lecraw was honored as the 4th Best High School Speaker. 🌟

The debaters of "and there I was, SU in love with you", Mary Anne Lechido and Nizza Noreen Lumaya from SUSHS, as well as adjudicator Elianarose Olarte from SUSHS, all carried the Sillimanian banner and represented SUDS with dedication and expertise.

The Society applauds its delegates for their dedication and ability to reasoned discourse. Congratulations! ❤️✨
