Day 6 | Cultural Tour of Bangkok 🇹🇭

The 4th Year BS Industrial Engineering students of Foundation University immersed themselves in the rich culture and heritage of Thailand as part of their International Educational Trip in Bangkok. The day began with a visit to the iconic Grand Palace, where students explored the grandeur of Thai architecture, history, and royal tradition.

At noon, the group enjoyed lunch at one of Bangkok’s famous floating markets, providing a unique opportunity to observe the daily lives, livelihood practices, and vibrant local culture of the Thai community. This cultural experience allowed the students to appreciate how tradition, tourism, and local enterprise coexist in one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic cities.

Day 5 | International Educational Trip 🇹🇭

Day 5 of the BS Industrial Engineering & Technology International Educational Trip of Foundation University in Bangkok, Thailand was filled with meaningful learning, innovation, and social impact.

The morning session immersed our 4th Year students in the SDG Innovation Lab Workshop, where they explored the Value Proposition Canvas and Social Business Model Canvas. These tools challenged them to develop innovative, human-centered, and sustainable solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the afternoon, the students gained deeper insights through the inspiring lecture "Gender, Social Business, and Women's Economic Lives in the Philippines," presented by Prof. Paula Banerjee, Chair of the Center on Gender and Forced Displacement at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). The discussion highlighted the vital role of gender inclusion, social entrepreneurship, and women's economic empowerment in building resilient and equitable communities.

As future industrial engineers and technology professionals, our students continue to broaden their perspectives beyond technical knowledge—embracing innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility as essential drivers of meaningful change.

Day 4 | BS Industrial Engineering International Educational Trip – Thailand 🇹🇭

Day 4 was dedicated to reflection, analysis, and collaborative learning as the BS Industrial Engineering students of Foundation University synthesized their field visits to EGAT and STEPS during the morning session. Guided by Mr. Brian Carraway of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), students reflected on their observations, connected theory with real-world practices, and identified key insights on sustainability, innovation, and inclusive development.

In the afternoon, the learning continued with an engaging workshop on the Problem and Objective Tree tool, facilitated by Mr. Erwin Lizarondo of AIT. Through this hands-on activity, students strengthened their critical thinking and problem-solving skills by analyzing root causes, defining core issues, and developing meaningful objectives—essential competencies for future Industrial Engineers.

From observation to analysis and from reflection to action, Day 4 empowered our students to think strategically and design solutions that create lasting impact.

Day 3 | International Educational Trip – Thailand 🇹🇭

Day 3 of the BS Industrial Engineering International Educational Trip was filled with meaningful learning and industry exposure.

The 4rth year BS Industrial Engineering students of Foundation University had the opportunity to visit EGAT (Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand) organized by AIT, where they gained valuable insights into power generation, energy management, sustainability initiatives, and the vital role of engineering in ensuring reliable and efficient energy systems.

The group also visited STEPS, a pioneering social enterprise dedicated to promoting neurodivergent and disability inclusion through education, employment, research, and advocacy. The visit inspired students to appreciate how innovation, inclusive workplace practices, and social responsibility can create meaningful opportunities for individuals of all abilities.

These enriching experiences continue to broaden our students' global perspective, strengthen their engineering knowledge, and reinforce the importance of sustainability, inclusivity, and responsible leadership in the profession.

Our School of Industrial Engineering & Technology students and faculty are off to Bangkok, Thailand!

They will undergo a 2-week immersive program hosted by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and its Yunus Center. These Foundationites will explore social business, food security, and the circular economy through field visits, academic instruction, and cultural engagement. They will also take part in mentorship-driven innovation labs focused on sustainability, design thinking, and impact evaluation. The participants will develop practical social business solutions and present their ideas at the end of the program.

This journey is not just about giving our students global exposure - it’s about giving them skills that will help our own country. This is where local heart meets global thinking.

We look forward to seeing their fresh perspectives, valuable insights, and stories that will inspire the entire Foundation University community.
