SSC Launches Sustainable Community Garden in ISU-E
The Supreme Student Council (SSC) of ISU-E spearheaded the establishment of a community garden beside the De Venecia Students Center. The garden aimed to provide free fresh-picked vegetables grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers and harmful chemicals. The initiative also promotes sustainability, environmental awareness, and healthy living within the university community.
The project, which started in February, was initiated by SSC Committee Head on Environmental Initiatives, Josh Nathaniel Apan, whose efforts led to the realization of the community garden through the collaboration of different organizations and supporters.
The Society of Organic Agriculture "SOA" - ISU Echague Campus contributed organic fertilizers and extended overall assistance in maintaining and developing the garden. Meanwhile, the Alpha Phi Omega - Iota Delta Chapter donated seedlings, helped in land preparation, and also provided overall support throughout the project.
In addition, Sir Rex Mendoza, Sir Amado Cortez Jr., and Maโam Batiana Mendoza were recognized for their support and contributions to the establishment of the community garden.
Through this initiative, the SSC hopes to encourage students and the community to practice sustainable gardening and appreciate the importance of organic farming for a healthier and greener future.
