Today, May 28, 2026, the 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗢𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 (𝗙𝗢𝗕) met to review the proposed transaction between 𝗜𝗦𝗨 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗜𝗻𝗰., or CVRRA, for the adoption and commercialization of a 𝗚𝗜𝗦-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲.
By encouraging a paperless recording system, the technology will address the lack of or poor adoption of farm and animal records. In order to help with decision-making, the system will map the farms, provide real-time animal data, and provide a brief herd status. The licensee, CVRRA, is a group of local ranchers and cattle farmers whose mission is to advance the livestock sector by enhancing breeding programs, livestock production, marketing, and health care. The association was represented by the President, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗼 𝗖. 𝗔𝗴𝗰𝗮𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗲.
The technology was developed by ISU-CVSRRC researchers, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗡. 𝗡𝗮𝘆𝗴𝗮 and 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝘂𝗯𝗿𝗲𝘆 𝗝𝗼𝘆 𝗠. 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗯𝗶𝗻, together with experts from the ISU- College of Computing Studies, Information and Communication Technology to include 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗷𝗮, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝘆𝗴𝗮, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗥𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼 and 𝗠𝗿. 𝗚𝗲𝗺 𝗞𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗼. Funded by 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟬𝟮, this proposed transaction will contribute to the modernization of agriculture, particularly livestock production.
The transaction was facilitated by the 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝟬𝟮- 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 or 𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗪. Members of the FOB are 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗲 𝗣. 𝗕𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗴, 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗖𝘆𝗿𝘂𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗼, and 𝗠𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁 𝗘𝘇𝗲𝗸𝗶𝗲𝗹 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮.

The cluster level will feature a competitive assembly of the finest student researchers across the Echague Cluster, bringing together the best presenters from 𝗜𝗦𝗨 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻, 𝗜𝗦𝗨 𝗝𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀, and the 𝗜𝗦𝗨 𝗘𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀. Notably, our 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 will also be competing in the graduate category, presenting advanced studies and expanding the scope of innovative research within our cluster.

Leading the individual category is 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐍. 𝐍𝐚𝐲𝐠𝐚, the dedicated Director of the Cagayan Valley Small Ruminants Research Center, who has been named a 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐆𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐨𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐨 (𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐲). This honor reflects Dr. Nayga's exceptional contributions and visionary leadership in agricultural research, generating a significant footprint with nationwide impact.

As regional winners, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐍𝐚𝐲𝐠𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐘𝐎𝐆𝐀𝐃 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐍𝐨𝐊𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚 will officially advance to represent the entire Cagayan Valley Region in the upcoming National Search. The ISU-Echague R&D family is immensely proud of this well-deserved recognition of our researchers, who continue to inspire us all to push the boundaries of scientific discovery and public service.

From May 9 to May 21, 2026, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗡. 𝗡𝗮𝘆𝗴𝗮, Director of the ISU-CVSRRC and Program Leader of the RAISE-CV Program, took part in the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, or 𝗣𝗛𝗜-𝗧𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 (𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧) and the 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗) collaborated to create PHI-TEST, a national framework for testing, validating, and certifying locally generated innovations to make sure they are safe, globally competitive, and ready for the market.

Among the test beds visited are CEA-Leti Minatec and National Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment, France; Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food, Belgium; and High Tech Campus Eindhoven (HTCE), the Netherlands.

As of his selection, Dr. Nayga's experience and significant contribution to ISU's advancement of research, innovation, and technology validation were recognized by the PHI-TEST Project. Following the mission, he will serve as a Master Trainer and is expected to play a significant role in strengthening national capacity in technology testing, evaluation, and standards development through this project.

Additionally, the immersion provided a platform for ISU to collaborate with European universities and research centers on animal science and R&D management.

𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 participated in the 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺, 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁, 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽 held on May 16–17, 2026, at the Philippine Nazarene College, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet.

The two-day immersive training gathered coffee enthusiasts, researchers, and advocates to deepen their understanding of coffee farming, roasting, and brewing practices in one of the country’s premier coffee-growing regions. Representing the office were 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐆𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐧, University Researcher II, 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐲 𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐢, University Research Associate I, and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐀𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐨, University Research Associate I.

Their participation aimed to gain additional knowledge and practical insights on sustainable coffee farming and processing techniques that may contribute to the improvement and enhancement of the existing coffee plantation initiatives of ISU-E. Through hands-on learning and field exposure, the participants were able to appreciate the journey of coffee from farm to cup while exploring opportunities for innovation and development in local coffee production.

Special thanks to 𝐌𝐫. 𝐄𝐥𝐢 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐝, Founder of Farm to Cup Philippines, for the invitation, warm accommodation, and for fostering meaningful collaborations and future partnerships in advancing the coffee industry and research initiatives.

Indeed, this experience brewed not only knowledge and skills but also stronger connections and shared aspirations toward promoting sustainable coffee culture and agricultural development.
