The Institute of Fisheries successfully conducted its Pinning and Pre-Deployment Ceremony on May 19, 2026, at the De Venecia Hall, marking a significant milestone in the academic and professional journey of its student interns. The ceremony symbolized the students' readiness to embark on their experiential learning and industry immersion, where they will apply the knowledge, skills, and values acquired throughout their academic preparation.

The activity aimed to formally recognize and prepare student interns for their field assignments, strengthen their commitment to professional excellence, and emphasize the importance of responsible conduct in the workplace. It also served as an opportunity to orient students on internship policies, expectations, and ethical standards necessary for successful industry engagement.

A key part of the program was the discussion of Commission on Higher Education Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 104, Series of 2017, led by SIPP Coordinator Ms. Melrose M. Guerrero, which provides the policies, standards, and guidelines governing student internships in higher education institutions. The discussion highlighted the objectives of internship programs, the roles and responsibilities of students, host training establishments, and the institution, as well as the importance of workplace safety, professionalism, and adherence to internship requirements. Through this orientation, student interns were equipped with the necessary information and guidance to ensure a meaningful, productive, and compliant internship experience.

The ceremony concluded with the pinning rites, signifying the students' preparedness to represent the Institute of Fisheries with competence, integrity, and dedication as they begin their respective internship placements.
