Empowering Excellence through Knowledge, Collaboration, and Shared Commitment

The Northern Iloilo State University – Quality Assurance Office, in partnership with Philippine Ferriby Training & Consultancy, Inc. (PFTCI), proudly hosted the In-House Capacity Building Program: Strengthening ISO 31000 Risk Management & Root Cause Analysis Competence last April 28–29, 2026 at the NISU Mini-Theater, Estancia Main Campus, Iloilo.

This transformative activity was led by Ms. Ma. Cristina M. Corral, a distinguished International Register of Certificated Auditors QMS 9001:2015-certified professional, together with Ms. Sharon C. Canda and Ms. Kaycee Jane Agnes Seriña from Philippine Ferriby Training & Consultancy, Inc. (PFTCI).

Over the course of two days, participants gained practical tools and strategies to strengthen their ability to identify, assess, and address organizational challenges. The program reaffirmed the University’s commitment to proactive risk management, evidence-based decision-making, and continuous improvement.

The initiative was actively participated in by the University’s Top Management, Unit Heads, College Deans, and the Quality Assurance workforce—a clear demonstration of NISU’s unified dedication to fortifying institutional systems and processes.

Together, we continue to cultivate a culture of quality, resilience, and excellence—empowering NISU to thrive in the face of challenges and lead with integrity.

Northern Iloilo State University proudly announces the successful conduct of its ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit 1 for 2025, held on November 12–14, 2025 across the Estancia Main Campus, Barotac Viejo Campus, and Concepcion Campus.

The audit was conducted by Ms. Ma. Cristina M. Corral, ISO Lead Auditor and President of GCL International, together with Capt. Kyle Rendell M. Corral, ISO Support Auditor. The Opening Meeting was conducted at NISU Estancia Main Campus, while the Closing Meeting was held at NISU Concepcion Campus.

This surveillance audit aimed to verify the continued compliance of Northern Iloilo State University’s Quality Management System (QMS) with the ISO 9001:2015 requirements, and to assess the effectiveness, consistency, and alignment of processes, procedures, and quality controls implemented across all audited units and campuses.

More than a compliance requirement, this activity serves as a strategic mechanism for institutional learning and continuous improvement. By engaging various campuses, academic and administrative units, and process owners, the audit reinforces shared accountability for quality and promotes a proactive approach to risk management, stakeholder satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

The insights and recommendations derived from this audit will guide future planning, resource allocation, and policy enhancements—ensuring that NISU remains adaptive to the evolving landscape of higher education and steadfast in its pursuit of global-quality standards.

Northern Iloilo State University successfully conducted its Management Review Meeting 2025 last November 7, 2025 at the Mini-Theater, NISU Main Campus, Estancia. This Meeting underscores the NISU’s commitment to sustaining and enhancing its Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

As a vital component of the continual improvement cycle, the meeting provided a formal venue for top management and key process owners to evaluate the results of the recently concluded NISU ISO 9001:2015 Interim Audit 2025. Discussions included identified non-conformities, commendable practices, opportunities for improvement, and the status of corrective actions implemented across various units.

This meeting also addressed resource needs, risks, and opportunities that may affect the performance and sustainability of the QMS, including those related to equitable access to services, and fair resource allocation.

The session was presided by University President, Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo, together with Dr. Gilda E. Deguma, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Ma. Theresa G. Palmares, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Larry B. Deysolong, Vice President for Research and Extension; Dr. Rizzamila R. Superio, Quality Assurance Office Director; and Dr. Mylene B. Estebal, ISO Associate Director. The meeting was actively participated in by College Deans, Internal Quality Auditors, selected Heads of Units, and staff members.

Through this collective endeavor, NISU continues to demonstrate resilience, accountability, and excellence in governance, reinforcing leadership commitment and shared accountability in maintaining a culture of excellence, transparency, and quality across all levels of the University.

Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) proudly announces the successful conduct of the ISO 9001:2015 Interim Audit 2025, held on October 29, 2025 and November 4, 2025. This significant milestone reaffirms NISU’s unwavering commitment to quality, excellence, and continual improvement in alignment with GCL International Standards.

This activity was spearheaded by the Quality Assurance Office (QAO) under the leadership of Dr. Rizzamila R. Superio, Director of QAO, and Dr. Mylene B. Estebal, ISO Associate Director, and was diligently carried out by the Internal Quality Auditors. The audit commenced with an opening address delivered by our University President, Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo, followed by the presentation of the audit plan to the NISU auditees by our Lead Auditor, Dr. Rosario P. Noderama.

Through the collective efforts of Top Management, Heads of Units and College Deans, Internal Quality Auditors, and Staff, NISU continues to demonstrate resilience, accountability, and a strong commitment to upholding ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

In the recently concluded AACCUP Level III and Level IV Online Accreditation Survey held on October 22–24, 2025, Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) once again demonstrated its steadfast commitment to quality education and institutional excellence. The University proudly welcomed external accreditors who evaluated seven academic programs across five campuses:
📘 Bachelor of Elementary Education (Estancia, Ajuy, Lemery)
📘 Bachelor of Secondary Education (Batad, Concepcion)
📘 BS in Mechanical Engineering (Estancia)
📘 BS in Fisheries (Concepcion)

This milestone underscores NISU’s unwavering dedication to inclusive education, academic integrity, and transformative service—hallmarks of the University’s pursuit of continuous improvement and excellence.
