This remarkable work highlights the ecological significance of Mount Mingan and emphasizes the importance of biodiversity conservation and continued scientific exploration.

๐Ÿ“San Antonio, Nueva Ecija โ€” The College of Agriculture conducted a Community Needs Assessment at Ako Ang Saklay Inc. on January 30, 2026, to serve as the basis for an integrated agricultural extension program for the organization.

The activity involved an ocular inspection and consultations to assess existing crop and animal production systems, including mushroom production, hydroponics, and mixed livestock and poultry operations.

Based on the assessment and post-visit consultation with the organizationโ€™s director, priority interventions will focus on poultry production, rehabilitation of hydroponic systems and additional green houses, technical support for mushroom production, and the establishment of an integrated farming system.
The results of the assessment will guide the design of targeted extension activities aimed at enhancing productivity, food security, and the long-term sustainability of Ako Saklay Inc.โ€™s community programs.

๐Ÿ“ Guimba, Nueva Ecija โ€” Faculty members from the College of Agriculture conducted a monitoring and technical assistance activity today, February 3, 2026, in Triala National High School, Guimba, Nueva Ecija, as part of the Universityโ€™s continuing extension services focused on sustainable and innovative agricultural technologies.

The activity specifically addressed the hydroponic onion production set-up, aiming to assess the current status of the system and provide science-based recommendations to further improve crop performance and production efficiency. The team evaluated key components of the hydroponic system, including nutrient management, water circulation, and overall system maintenance. The activity also served as a venue for discussion to address challenges encountered by the partner agency.

Further monitoring and follow-up activities are planned to support the sustainability and success of the project.

The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), through its research and extension initiatives, successfully transferred its hydroponic onion production technology to Triala National High School in Guimba, Nueva Ecija on November 13, 2025.

The technology, developed through a university-led research project funded by Department of Science and Technology โ€“ Region III (DOST-III), was introduced through an on-site training and demonstration activity led by the College of Agriculture Research, Extension, and Training (RET) Unit. Teachers and students participated in hands-on learning sessions covering hydroponic system setup, nutrient management, crop maintenance, and harvesting techniques.

Following the training, the partner school formally adopted the technology and integrated it into its agriculture-related subjects and school-based production projects. This adoption supports experiential learning while promoting innovative and climate-resilient farming practices among the youth.
The initiative highlights the university commitment to translating research outputs into practical and impactful solutions for communities and educational institutions, strengthening the linkage between instruction, research, and extension services.

The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), in partnership with the Cuyapa Agri-Tubig Upland Farmers Association (CATUFA), continues to strengthen community-based agricultural development through the DA-BAR ACEF Funded Program. As part of this initiative, CATUFA members recently participated in a training on producing quality moringa seedlings, aimed at equipping the association with foundational skills in producing quality moringa seedlings.

The activity was organized by the NEUST Moringa & DA-BAR ACEF Project Team, with the coordination led by Engr. Jeffrey G. Dichoso. Experts from the NEUST College of Agriculture served as resource speakers, providing science-based lectures and hands-on demonstrations.

Under the partnership, NEUST provides technical assistance, training, and equipment, while CATUFA commits to cultivating moringa and actively participating in capacity-building activities.

The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) College of Agriculture proudly participated in the 2025 Young Farmers Challenge โ€“ Intermediate Category Regional Competition held on October 29, 2025, in San Fernando, Pampanga. The event was organized by the Department of Agriculture โ€“ Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), Regional Field Office III.

Representing NEUST were Mr. John Mark Pascua, Ms. Hannah Coloma, and Mr. Noel Brudo, BS Agriculture students, mentored by Mr. John Edwin Diozon and Ms. Divine Claire Dichoso. The team competed in the Business Model Canvas Pitching for Innovative Agricultural Products, showcasing their creativity and entrepreneurial skills in developing agribusiness ideas.
