A Fraternal Birthday Greeting

To our Esteemed Brother,
Worshipful Brother Anselmo “Jun” Syegco, Jr.,

On this auspicious occasion of your birth, we, the Officers and Brethren of General Llanera Masonic Lodge No. 168, F. & A.M., extend to you our warmest and most heartfelt fraternal greetings.

Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on January 15, 1975, your long and faithful journey in the Craft stands as a shining testament to your steadfast devotion to the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. As a Golden Apron Awardee and a Past Master of our Lodge, your leadership has left an enduring mark upon our pillars, guiding the Brethren with wisdom, humility, and strength.

We also honor the proud legacy from which you came—being the son of Worshipful Brother Anselmo Syegco, Sr., himself a Past Master of our Mother Lodge. Truly, yours is a lineage rooted deeply in the traditions and noble labors of Freemasonry, reflecting the continuity of light passed from one generation to another.

May the Great Architect of the Universe continue to bless you with good health, strength of mind, and peace of heart. May your days be long, your labors fruitful, and your light ever burning brightly within the hearts of the Brethren.

Happy Birthday, Worshipful Brother. May you ever walk uprightly before God and man, and may your example continue to inspire those who follow in your footsteps.

Fraternally yours,
The Officers and Brethren of
General Llanera Masonic Lodge No. 168, F. & A.M.

THE APRON IS CLEAN… BUT IS THE MAN WORTHY?

There are men who speak loudly of leadership… yet whisper when duty calls.
There are those who demand discipline from others… yet excuse their own shortcomings.
And there are brethren who wear the apron with pride… but forget the weight of what it represents.

In our Craft, leadership is not found in titles, nor in the East, nor in the applause of men.
It is found in quiet consistency—the unseen discipline to do what is right, even when inconvenient, even when unnoticed.

The true test of a Mason is not how well he performs within the Lodge…
but how faithfully he governs himself outside of it.

For hypocrisy is the silent enemy of our Brotherhood.
It erodes trust, weakens unity, and dims the Light we are sworn to protect.

Before we correct a Brother, let us examine our own ashlar.
Before we seek position, let us prove our discipline.
Before we lead others, let us first learn to lead ourselves.

The apron is not a decoration—it is a declaration.
A constant reminder that we are called to a higher standard… not sometimes, but always.

So I ask you, my Brethren—
When the world is watching… and even when it is not—
Are we truly living the life we obligated ourselves to uphold?

Fraternally,
Bro. Joni Cabrera

Masonic Birthday Greeting

Worshipful Master, Officers, and Brethren,

With fraternal joy, we extend our warmest birthday greetings to our well-loved Brother Ronald M. Del Rosario, who was Raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason on March 17, 2005.

Brother Ronald, you are truly a delight among the Brethren—a man whose presence brings lightness, fellowship, and harmony within our ranks. Known not only for your steadfastness in the Craft but also for your lively spirit, you have a rare gift of uniting hearts in joy. On and off the checkered pavement, your cheerful disposition and talent—especially upon the dance floor—have made you a beloved figure, drawing all into the circle of camaraderie whenever you lead.

Such qualities remind us that Freemasonry is not only a system of moral instruction but also a bond of brotherhood strengthened by shared happiness and genuine affection. You embody that balance well, Brother—firm in your Masonic duties, yet ever ready to uplift the spirits of others.

May the Great Architect of the Universe continue to bless you with health, happiness, and many more years filled with light, laughter, and meaningful labor in the Craft.

Masonic Birthday Greeting

Worshipful Master, Officers, and Brethren,

On this auspicious day, we extend our warmest fraternal greetings to our worthy Brother Kevin V. Garcia, who was Raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason on June 22, 2019.

Brother Kevin, your journey in the Craft has been marked by diligence, zeal, and an admirable proficiency in all the three degrees. As our Conferral Director, you have faithfully labored in the quarry, ever ready to guide, instruct, and impart the sacred floorwork to those who seek light. Your willingness to teach and uplift others reflects the true spirit of a Mason—one who not only receives light but generously shares it.

It is likewise a source of pride that you belong to a family firmly rooted in the principles of Freemasonry—your father and brother standing beside you as members of our beloved Mother Lodge, General Llanera Masonic Lodge No. 168, F. & A.M., and your extended ties, Brother in law, reaching even unto another jurisdiction in New Zealand. Truly, yours is a lineage that strengthens the bonds of our Fraternity across both blood and borders.

May the Great Architect of the Universe continue to bless you with good health, wisdom, and strength, that you may further labor with distinction and continue to be an instrument of light to your Brethren.

Happy Birthday, dear Brother Kevin. May your days be many, your labors fruitful, and your light ever shining.

Brethren, whithersoever dispersed,

I humbly seek your counsel.

It is my intention to return to the foundations of our Craft, and begin a daily series of reflections centered on the Entered Apprentice Degree—its symbolism, allegories, working tools, and enduring lessons.

In a time when we often move forward, perhaps it is wise to revisit where we first began—to refresh our understanding, and to deepen our appreciation of those initial teachings that shaped our Masonic journey.

May I respectfully ask for your thoughts on this undertaking.

If you are in favor, you may simply reply:

“Agree” or “Yes”
together with your Mother Lodge and Jurisdiction.

Your participation will greatly guide and strengthen this proposed effort in Masonic education.

Fraternally,
Bro. Joni Cabrera

Brethren,

During our April Stated Communication, the Craft was duly convened and our labors were harmoniously pursued. Among the highlights of the meeting were the earnest preparations for the forthcoming Annual Communication to be held in the City of Tagaytay, as well as the anticipated Lodge Visitation in Zambales—both of which call for our unity, diligence, and unwavering zeal in the service of the Fraternity. Likewise, the reading of the fourth petitioner for this Masonic year was received with due attention, reminding us of our sacred duty to guard well the West Gate.

In the course of the meeting, the Committee on Jurisprudence, Ritual, and Education presented a timely and instructive Masonic Education on the qualifications of petitioners. Notably, the presenters were both newly obligated Brethren—Bro. Chris Justin M. Del Rosario and Bro. Harold M. Sabalo—who, through their evident proficiency, dedication, and diligent study, delivered the subject with commendable clarity and earnestness. Their effort stands as a testament that zeal for Masonic light knows no tenure, but is measured by one’s commitment to learn and to serve.

Yet, beyond the solemnity of our labors, it was the spirit of fellowship that crowned the evening with joy and brotherly love.

In a well-orchestrated surprise, the First Family—led by Ateng Merzi Bautista and their children—together with the Brethren, prepared a heartfelt birthday celebration for our Worshipful Master Renz Rigor L. Bautista, at the Fellowship Hall. With careful planning, several Brethren engaged the Worshipful Master in conversation after the closing of the Lodge, subtly delaying his departure from the Temple while final preparations were being set in place.

Upon receiving the signal that all was ready, the Worshipful Master was gently ushered toward the Fellowship Hall. As the doors were opened, he was warmly greeted by the ladies of 168, bearing cakes, balloons, and sparkling adornments, accompanied by a jubilant chorus of birthday songs. The moment was filled with genuine surprise, laughter, and the unmistakable warmth of fraternal and familial affection.

Indeed, it was a fitting reminder that while we labor in the quarries of Masonry with seriousness and purpose, we are equally bound by ties of friendship, brotherhood, and love—making our Fraternity not only a society of builders, but a family united in heart.

Fraternally,
Bro. Joni Cabrera

THE SILENT TEST OF A MASON: WHAT YOU DO WHEN NO ONE SEES

There is a test in Masonry that no ballot can measure…
no gavel can enforce…
and no applause can reward.

It is the test of what you do when no one sees you.

Discipline is not proven in the Lodge room alone—
it is revealed in the quiet moments of choice,
when convenience tempts you to compromise,
and no Brother is present to hold you accountable.

Leadership is not the privilege of the East—
it is the mastery of self.
For how can a man govern others
if he cannot govern his own actions, his own words, his own desires?

And hypocrisy…
it is the shadow that follows the undisciplined Mason—
the gap between what is spoken in Light
and what is practiced in darkness.

We may wear the apron with honor,
we may recite the lessons with precision,
but the Craft is not deceived by appearances.

The real work is unseen.
The true labor is internal.
The lasting temple is built in silence.

So when the world is quiet…
when no eyes are upon you…
when no recognition is to be gained—

Will you still choose what is right?

That, my Brethren,
is the silent test of a Mason.

Bro. Joni Cabrera

BETWEEN THE GAVEL AND THE GRAVE: WHAT DEFINES A TRUE BROTHER

Between the sound of the gavel and the silence of the grave…
a man is given but a short time to prove who he truly is.

In the Lodge, the gavel calls us to order—
to discipline, to labor, to harmony.
But when its sound fades, and the world resumes its noise…
what remains of the Mason?

For a true Brother is not defined by his presence in meetings,
nor by the titles he has worn,
nor by the honors he has received.

He is defined by his discipline when no one corrects him,
by his integrity when no one observes him,
and by his consistency when no one applauds him.

Leadership is not the authority to command—
it is the quiet strength to set the example.
To walk uprightly, even when the path is difficult.
To choose what is right, even when it is unpopular.

And beware of hypocrisy—
for it is the great fracture within the Craft.
It is easy to speak of Light…
but far harder to live in it.

The world does not judge us by our words in the Lodge,
but by our actions beyond it.
And time—unforgiving and certain—
will reveal whether we merely wore the apron…
or truly lived its meaning.

So, my Brethren, reflect deeply—
Between the gavel that calls you to labor…
and the grave that ends your labors—

What kind of Mason will you be remembered as?

Bro. Joni Cabrera

Fellowship and Harmony

In the true spirit of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth, the Brethren of General Llanera Masonic Lodge No. 168, F. & A.M., gather not only within the solemn walls of the Lodge, but also in the light of fellowship—where hearts are unburdened, laughter is shared, and the bonds of our Fraternity are strengthened.

This evening, the Brethren set aside the labors of the day and the formalities of the Craft, to partake in wholesome recreation and joyful company. With music in the air and gladness in every step, they dance the night away—each movement a reflection of harmony, each smile a testament to the unity we so deeply cherish.

For it is in these moments, beyond ritual and instruction, that we truly come to know one another—not merely as Masons, but as Brothers. Here, distinctions fade, and what remains is the genuine warmth of fellowship, the cement that binds our sacred institution.

May such gatherings ever remind us that while our work is noble and our duties great, the joy of companionship and the strength of fraternal ties are equally essential in building a Lodge that is not only well-formed, but well-loved.

Fraternally,
Bro. Joni Cabrera

A FRATERNAL ACCOUNT OF DUTY AND DISTINCTION

Brethren,

Under the able leadership of Worshipful Master Renz Rigor L. Bautista, the Three Principal Officers of General Llanera Masonic Lodge No. 168, F. & A.M., together with dedicated officers of Masonic District Region III – Nueva Ecija South, faithfully attended the Valedictory Meeting of the District, held at the Fellowship Hall of General Llanera Masonic Lodge No. 168, F. & A.M.

This solemn and meaningful assembly was not only a fulfillment of duty but a reaffirmation of our collective obligation to the Craft. Guided by the instructions for ANCOM 2026, as imparted by the District Deputy Grand Master, Very Worshipful Alan I. Purisima, Jr., the brethren stood united in purpose, ever mindful that the strength of Masonry lies in the harmony of its members and the steadfastness of their labors.

In the course of the proceedings, due recognition was accorded to our District Grand Lecturers, Grand Lodge Inspectors, and other officers of the District—brethren whose outstanding service, unwavering commitment, and faithful ex*****on of their duties have exemplified the highest ideals of our Fraternity.

Their labors echo the profound truth embodied in the theme:
“Bawat Isa sa Masoneriya ay Mahalaga.”
Indeed, every Brother, in his own station and capacity, contributes a vital stone in the building of our symbolic Temple.

May their selfless devotion and tireless efforts continue to inspire us all—to labor with diligence, to serve with humility, and to uphold the honor and dignity of our beloved Craft.

Fraternally,
Bro. Joni Cabrera
