April 22, 2026 — Faculty members of the Mechanical Engineering (ME) Department conducted a five-year strategic planning session to define the department’s long-term direction and set actionable goals.

During the activity, the department formulated its mission, vision, and core values in alignment with the university’s updated direction and the Chancellor’s 8-point agenda. SWOT and PESTLE analyses were also done to assess internal capabilities and external factors influencing the department.

The session resulted in strategic goals, corresponding action plans, and key initiatives for the next five years. A risk management plan was developed to address potential challenges, alongside a monitoring framework to track progress and ensure successful implementation.

Two Mechanical Engineering faculty members from Mindanao State University–General Santos actively participated in key events organized by Komatsu Philippines Corporation (KPC) in March 2026, held at its Training Center in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.

Engr. Aian Rey A. Caladcad took part in the 5-Day Training Program for University Faculty from March 2 to 6, 2026, together with seven other faculty members from various universities across the country. The program focused on Basic Hydraulics and Engine Courses and aimed to enhance the teaching competencies of faculty members while providing insights into KPC’s training initiatives and industry practices.

Two weeks later, on March 24, 2026, Engr. Ronald A. Delalamon attended the Entrance Ceremony for KPC’s 18th Batch of Trainees. Notably, Engr. Leonard Anthony Abatayo and Engr. Raymond Benedict Dardo, both Mechanical Engineering graduates of MSU–General Santos, successfully met KPC’s rigorous qualification standards and were admitted alongside nine other trainees from across the country.

These engagements highlight the strong partnership between MSU–General Santos and KPC, demonstrating the university’s commitment to strengthening industry linkages. Such collaborations help ensure that academic curricula remain aligned with current industry demands, provide valuable training opportunities for faculty, and ultimately enhance the employability of graduates.
