The opening ceremony brought together university leaders, government officials, alumni entrepreneurs, community exhibitors, students, and partner organizations in a celebration of collaboration, entrepreneurship, and social responsibility.
The activity was organized by the Community Outreach and Service-Learning Office, headed by Dr. Fedelyn P. Estrella, and the Alumni Relations Office, led by Dr. Amanda Jane Menta, in collaboration with DTI Cavite, under the leadership of Provincial Director Lilibeth R. Chavez. The partnership reflects the shared commitment of the University and DTI Cavite to empower local entrepreneurs, strengthen alumni engagement, and create sustainable opportunities for communities through meaningful collaboration.
The program commenced with an opening prayer and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, followed by the ceremonial ribbon-cutting that formally opened the bazaar to the LPU community. In her welcome remarks, Dr. Fedelyn P. Estrella, Director of the Community Outreach and Service-Learning Office, emphasized that the NEXUS Bazaar goes beyond a commercial exhibition, serving as a platform that connects the University with alumni, local enterprises, and community partners while advancing LPU Cavite's mission of service and social transformation.
Delivering the keynote message, DTI Cavite Provincial Director Lilibeth R. Chavez underscored the importance of strengthening partnerships between government and higher education institutions in fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and inclusive economic growth. She commended LPU Cavite for continuously creating opportunities that support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), alumni entrepreneurs, and community organizations.
Representing the LPU Cavite Alumni Association, Engr. Jessa Ornopia, Association President, expressed the alumni community's appreciation for the initiative, highlighting how the bazaar provides graduates with an avenue to showcase their businesses, reconnect with the University, and contribute to community development.
A meaningful highlight of the ceremony was the Awarding of Certificates of Appreciation to participating exhibitors and partners, followed by the Awarding of Proceeds to the beneficiary of this year's community initiative, Bukid Kabataan Shelter. Accepting the donation on behalf of the institution was Sr. Clemencia Flora, RGS, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to LPU Cavite, DTI Cavite, the participating exhibitors, alumni entrepreneurs, and everyone who supported the fundraising initiative. The moment reinforced the bazaar's purposeโnot only to promote entrepreneurship but also to extend assistance to communities in need.
The opening ceremony was graced by Dr. Maria Teresa O. Pilapil, Vice President for Administration, and Dr. Mark Irvin C. Celis, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who joined university officials, faculty members, alumni, DTI representatives, community exhibitors, and students in celebrating the launch of the event. Also present was Dr. Maridette Maranan, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Education and Chair of Vision-Mission Week 2026, whose leadership has been instrumental in spearheading this year's celebration centered on the University's vision and mission.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Amanda Jane Menta, Head of the Alumni Relations Office, followed by the LPU Hymn and a booth tour, where guests visited the participating exhibitors and engaged with alumni-owned businesses, community enterprises, and partner organizations.
Running throughout Vision-Mission Week 2026, the NEXUS Bazaar: A Community Bazaar for a Cause | Alumni Business Expo showcases a diverse selection of products and services from alumni entrepreneurs, local MSMEs, and community organizations. More than a marketplace, the initiative embodies LPU Cavite's commitment to community engagement, sustainable livelihood, and collaborative nation-building while advancing the University's support for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
