Notice to the Community

We would like to inform everyone that the Partido Institute of Economics (PIE) has been dissolved as part of the new strategic plan of Partido State University. Its functions have been integrated into the BS Economics Program, which will now be known as the Institute of Economics (IE) under the College of Accountancy and Economics (CAE).

Mr. Emmanuel A. Onsay, the former director of PIE, no longer holds a position as director. He has transitioned to a full-time faculty role with a teaching load of 18 units starting this semester.

Mr. Onsay will prioritize his academic pursuits as he is currently a full-time PhD by Research student at the UP Los BaΓ±os Graduate School, specializing in Data Analytics and Informatics for Business, Economics, and Social Sciences.

Mr. Onsay assures everyone that he will continue to support the university administration, regardless of his position. His loyalty lies with Partido State University, and he is committed to the welfare of the students and the betterment of the community rather than any individuals in power.

He has also pledged his continuous support to the BS Economics Program, offering his expertise in instruction, research, and extension activities for the socio-economic upliftment of all stakeholders. Currently, Mr. Onsay is teaching courses in econometrics theory, econometrics laboratory, and environmental and resource economics. Furthermore, he is involved in one research project until 2025 and has committed to completing two research studies in 2024 for the benefit of the Economics Community.

Mr. Onsay takes pride in his ability to serve regardless of his status and conditions. He has consistently demonstrated a playful manner, great initiative, and a strong sense of freewill, even during his time as a temporary instructor. He believes that outcome-based efforts are more valuable than formalities and traditions, and he has achieved many things even without direct supervisions. He strongly dislikes conventional university practices that restrict him to old standards and compliance-based approaches. His unwavering integrity, commitment to honesty, and authenticity are of greater importance to him than his personal achievements.

Currently, Mr. Onsay is still grieving the loss of his beloved pet, Kankan. Therefore, his transition to a full-time faculty role is a welcomed opportunity for him to focus entirely on teaching and his PhD studies.

If you have any concerns or inquiries regarding research, development, extension, or external services previously provided by PIE, please direct them to the BS Economics Program.
Ms. Menchi E. Del Castillo-Crispino, the Director of the New Institute of Economics and the department chair of the Economics Program, will be leading these efforts.

Lastly, Mr. Onsay would like to express his heartfelt gratitude to the past and present administration for their unwavering support to the Economics community. He is also thankful to his supervisors for allowing him to fully dedicate himself to his PhD journey and teaching responsibilities. Most importantly, he extends his gratitude to all the students, partners, and stakeholders for their trust and continuous support.

Although Mr. Onsay bids farewell as the last director of the Partido Institute of Economics (PIE), you will still find him actively contributing as a full-time member of the ParSU economics system.
