History has been made for the town of Guagua! The Guagua Community College community stands in proud solidarity with the entire nation in celebrating a landmark achievement: our very own Local Chief Executive, 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡 “𝐓𝐨𝐧” 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬, has been officially hailed as the "𝑴𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑴𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒂𝒍 𝑴𝒂𝒚𝒐𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔"

The prestigious honor was conferred by the 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 (𝐀𝐋𝐒𝐖𝐃𝐎𝐏𝐈) in Zamboanga City on April 28, 2026.

Mayor Anthony Torres emerged at the top of a highly competitive field, prevailing over mayors from all first-class to third-class municipalities across Luzon. This national recognition is a powerful testament to his commitment to social welfare and a brand of governance rooted in two simple pillars: 𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 and 𝒂 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒖𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆.

𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐌: 𝐀 𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐂𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐄𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

The Guagua Community College family joins the entire municipality in mourning the passing of 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐨 𝐒. 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚, former Municipal Mayor of Guagua (2005–2013).

While the community remembers him as a dedicated public servant, we at GCC hold a special place for him in our history. It was during Mayor Rivera’s term that the vision for a local community college began to take shape.

We honor the leadership he provided during those pivotal years. We also recognize that the establishment of GCC was a collective journey, a fruit of the labor of several key players, officials, and visionaries who worked hand-in-hand to prioritize the future of Guagueño youth. Mayor Rivera served as a vital pillar in that foundation, bringing the spirit of cooperation needed to turn a dream into the institution we are today.

Beyond the policies and the buildings, we remember "𝐀𝐩𝐮 𝐑𝐢𝐜" for his humility and his belief that education should be accessible to all. The hallways of GCC and the success of our alumni stand as a living tribute to the era of service he led.

We offer our deepest condolences and prayers to the Rivera family.

With heavy hearts, the Municipal Government of Guagua announces the passing of Honorable Ricardo S. Rivera, former Municipal Mayor of Guagua, Pampanga.

Mayor Rivera served our town from July 23, 2005 to June 30, 2013 with dedication, humility, and a genuine love for the people. He was more than a public servant—he was a leader who listened, cared, and worked tirelessly to make Guagua a better place for all.

We join his family, friends, and the entire community in mourning his loss. In this difficult time, we offer our heartfelt prayers and deepest condolences.

May we remember him not only for his years of service, but for the kindness and commitment he showed to everyone he met. His legacy will continue to live on in the lives he touched and in the community he helped build.

Today's event at the GCC Covered Court was filled with stories of resilience, breakthroughs, and a deep commitment to excellence as we held our Women’s Month Celebration 2026. Under the theme: "𝐖𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲"

The celebration opened with a stirring message from our 𝐎𝐈𝐂 – 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐨 𝐏. 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐚, 𝐉𝐫. He highlighted the vital role of women in addressing the modern challenges of our world, reminding us that there is "𝑵𝒐 𝑫𝒐𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒅." Whatever a man can achieve, a woman can achieve with equal brilliance.

A highlight of the morning was the recognition of four extraordinary women students. These awardees, who balance the noble calling of motherhood with the rigors of education, shared their life stories. Their message to the younger generation of GCCians was clear "𝑨𝒈𝒆, 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒈𝒈𝒍𝒆𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔. He emphasized their crucial role in the daily operations of our school, reminding us that within these walls are "𝐊𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐤𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨", stories of grit and grace that deserve to be heard and celebrated by the world.

Marking a milestone for inclusivity, 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐕𝐏 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡, 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐆𝐢𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐅. This symbol represents our ongoing mission to ensure GCC remains a safe, equitable, and progressive space for every gender.

𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬, 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐌. 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐝, delivered a powerful Statement of Academic Commitment that resonated deeply with the crowd. He challenged every student to shed the "𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠" mentality in their own lives. He addressed those who once felt they were here as a "last resort," urging them to take full responsibility for their journey and transform a "𝑵𝒐 𝑪𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆" into a "𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒅 𝑪𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆" future. "𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 '𝑺𝒂 𝑮𝑪𝑪 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈.' 𝑳𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒚𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒂𝒚, '𝑷𝑹𝑶𝑼𝑫 𝑮𝑪𝑪𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑨𝑲𝑶!' and reaffirmed the institution's mission to provide quality and transformative education.

To close the program, 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐕𝐏 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚 𝐌. 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚, shared a deeply heartwarming talk. She reminded our female faculty and students that their worth is immeasurable. 𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | In observance of 𝑬𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝑩 𝑷𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒔 𝑫𝒂𝒚, Guagua Community College conducted an Integrated Health Seminar on March 18 in line with 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝑻𝒖𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒔 𝑫𝒂𝒚 (March 24).

The seminar covered 𝑻𝒖𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒔 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔, 𝑯𝑰𝑽 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝑻𝑰 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑴𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔, equipping participants with essential knowledge on prevention, early detection, and responsible health practices while addressing stigma through informed discussions.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals; particularly 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝟯: 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝟰: 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝟭𝟬: 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝟭𝟳: 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀, the initiative underscores the College’s commitment to fostering a health-conscious and informed academic community.

Conducted in collaboration with the Department of Health and the local Rural Health Unit, the activity reinforces GCC’s role in promoting holistic well-being and community engagement.
