Once again proving quality education, NORSU-Dumaguete Campus was recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as among Philippines' top universities in Teacher Education.

NORSU was one of the six tertiary schools in Region VII and 73 top Higher Education Institutions (HEI's) in the country based on CHEDโ€™s List of HEIโ€™s with Center(s) of Excellence (COEโ€™s) and Center(s) of Development (CODโ€™s) in the said field.

The universityโ€™s College of Teacher Education (CTEd) headed by its dean, Libertine C. De Guzman, was documented by CHED as Center of Development (COD) on May 17, 2016.

Remarkably, NORSU produced 844 new professional teachers, recording a 32.25 percent overall passing rate in the elementary level and 37.73 percent for secondary level in the latest Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) held on September 2019.

Recently, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released Resolution No. 1221(A) series of 2020, designating NORSU-Dumaguete as one of the additional testing centers along with Jolo (Sulu) and Bongao (Tawi-Tawi) for the supposedly March 2020 LEPT which was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Also included in CHEDโ€™s list is Silliman University which is also recognized in the fields: Information Technology, Biology, Marine Science, and Medical Technology.
