Today, we celebrate the freedom that was not freely given.
It was earned through the blood, sacrifice, and unwavering courage of our forefathers who chose to stand against oppression, even at the cost of their own lives. From the battlefields of Mactan, to the revolution of 1896, to the countless Filipinos who fought in every generation, they dreamed of a nation that would stand proud, united, and free.
Yet as we look around today, one painful question remains:
๐๐๐ฏ๐ ๐ฐ๐ ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ก๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ซ๐๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ข๐ซ ๐ฌ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ข๐๐?
Our heroes did not fight and die for Filipinos to hate one another because of political colors, beliefs, or differences. They did not dream of a nation divided by anger, misinformation, and selfish interests. They fought for one Philippinesโone people, one flag, one future.
Politics may shape governments, but it should never destroy our brotherhood as Filipinos.
As we commemorate the ๐๐๐แตสฐ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐๐ฒ, let us remember that our greatest strength has always been our unity. We may disagree, we may come from different regions, cultures, and walks of life, but we all call this nation our home.
The freedom we enjoy today was paid for by generations who believed that the Philippines was worth fighting for.
May we never waste that sacrifice.
May we learn to listen before we judge, to understand before we condemn, and to love our country more than our personal pride.
Because at the end of the day, the red, blue, white, and yellow of our flag belong to all Filipinos.
Let us stand together as one nation.
