The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) once again proved its excellence as it delivered a powerful and culturally rich performance during the Hugyawan 2026: Festival Dance Competition, held at the College of Nursing (CON) Grounds, April 22.
With a performance deeply rooted in the Filipino spirit of bayanihan, the festival dancers, choreographers, and props team collectively brought to life a compelling portrayal of unity and resilience in times of hardship.
Their seamless coordination and shared dedication uplift the piece beyond movement, transforming it into a powerful narrative of solidarity.
Behind the success of the performance was festival dance choreographer James DeleΓ±a Vidal, who shared the challenges of leading a large and diverse team.
βVery hard, lalo na malaki ang nahawakan mo at iba-iba ang kasama mo. Kailangan approachable ka sa lahatβsa dancers at sa staff,β Vidal expressed.
He also emphasized how the department pushed him to strive for greater creativity, perfection, and passion throughout the process.
βSa pag-push, hindi sabay-sabay, patience talaga,β he said.
Despite it being his first time handling such a large-scale performance, Vidal reflected on the experience as a continuous learning journey, recognizing areas for growth while pushing the team toward improvement.
CAS emerged as one of the top-performing contingents of the competition, proudly bringing home multiple recognitions.
The department secured the Best Festival Queen, namely Angel Mae Torres, and the Best Festival King, named Kenji Docuyanan, alongside its achievement as 1st Runner-Up in the Festival Dance Competition.
The event showcased the creativity and talent of Ramonian students, celebrating Filipino culture through vibrant festival-inspired performances.
Through its strong showing, CAS not only demonstrated artistic excellence but also embodied the true Ramonion spirit of unity, passion, and shared pride.
