Aklan State University (ASU) demonstrated strong leadership and innovation at the PAEPI International Extension Conference 2026, held April 14โ17, 2026 at TAG Resort, Coron Palawan.
Anchored on the theme โNext-Gen Extension: Driving Socioeconomic Change for Inclusive Community Development,โ the conference gathered institutions and partners including Asian Agro-Ecological University Network, Bulacan Agricultural State College, and PAA Tamarind Chapter.
ASU extensionists actively participated across multiple categories, showcasing impactful extension initiatives. In Health, Nutrition and Wellness, โProject BULIG: Building and Uplifting the Lives of Indigenous Group (Ati Community) in the Island of Boracayโ secured 2nd Place Best Paper, led by Joven Morales Resusta with team members Prof. Jerby J. Paderes, Dr. Sharon C. Masula, and Ms. Meyzcel P. Cuesta.
In Agriculture, Food and Environment, โSUBEAK-BITUON: Sustainable Urban Bioresource Engineering for Agriculture and Kaleidoscope in Bridging Initiatives through Technology, Unity, Outreach and Networkingโ, earned 4th Place, highlighting innovative approaches to agri-eco tourism and sustainable livelihoods.
Further strengthening ASUโs contributions, Dr. Perlita Israel presented โIntegrated Capacity Building in Hospitality Skills (ICBHS) for KAPATIRAN para sa Progresong Panlipunan (KPP) to Support Highland Tourism,โ emphasizing skills development to boost community-based tourism. The Education category also featured โClick, Comprehend, and Conserve,โ promoting literacy through mangrove storytelling and environmental awareness.
These achievements reflect the dedication and heart of ASU personnel in advancing meaningful, community-centered extension work. Their efforts continue to make a real difference and bring pride to the university and the communities they serve.
