"A new era for public education in Iloilo City is about to unfold as the Iloilo City Community College (ICCC) prepares to rise in its newest home at Fort San Pedro.

The city government confirmed the development after Mayor Raisa Treñas-Chu announced the establishment of the new campus in the City Proper district. This expansion marks a major milestone for ICCC, which has seen a rapid growth in enrollment over the years. The existing campus in Barangay San Pedro, Molo, currently serves around 1,041 students and is already operating beyond its ideal capacity. With limited space in its current location, the need for a larger and more efficient facility has become urgent.

The new Fort San Pedro campus will provide additional classrooms to comfortably accommodate more learners. It will also allow the college to open new academic programs tailored to the needs of Iloilo City residents. City officials emphasized that the project supports the long-term vision of improving accessible and quality education. For students, the expansion means better learning spaces, modern facilities, and increased opportunities for higher education. For the city, it represents an investment in youth development and community progress. The future campus is expected to strengthen ICCC’s role as a hub for free and quality tertiary education.

Hence, the residents of Iloilo City can look forward to a more spacious, inclusive, and future-ready learning environment. As construction begins, the new ICCC Fort San Pedro campus stands as a symbol of hope, an assurance that education in Iloilo City will continue to rise, expand, and empower generations to come."

Padayon lang, ICCC scholars — inyo kabuhi, inyo istorya, amon inspirasyon!

City-Owned Lot in Veterans Village to Become New ICCC Campus; More Courses and Classrooms Planned

The Iloilo City Government is moving ahead with its plan to expand the Iloilo City Community College (ICCC), with a new and modern campus set to rise in Barangay Veterans Village, City Proper, at the Fort San Pedro area. The project, outlined by Mayor Raisa Treñas in her First 100 Days Report, reinforces the city’s commitment to providing accessible and inclusive tertiary education to Ilonggo youth.

“This expansion shows our promise to every youth who wants a better future. With a bigger and better ICCC campus, we can open more opportunities, support more Ilonggo families, and help guide the next generation of leaders for our city,” Treñas said.

The expansion was made possible after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) vacated the 2.5-hectare property last year. Though DPWH occupied the site for over four decades, the land has always been owned by the Iloilo City Government, which now plans to fully maximize it for public education.

Responding to Growing Enrollment Demand

ICCC currently hosts over 1,300 students across four programs:

Non-Board Courses (3 sections each):

Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA)
Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM)

Board Courses (2 sections each):

Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCrim)
Bachelor of Special Needs Education major in Early Childhood Education (BSNEd–ECED)

Despite receiving more than 1,000 applicants annually, the college admits only around 300 students due to the limited number of classrooms in its Molo campus. The new site in Veterans Village aims to close this gap.

As a local government–run college, ICCC offers free tuition to indigent but deserving students through CHED subsidies, while faculty salaries are supported by the Iloilo City Government’s General Fund—a testament to City Hall’s steadfast investment in education.

A Modern Campus to Rise in Veterans Village

The new ICCC campus will sit on at least one hectare of the vacated city property at Fort San Pedro in Brgy. Veterans Village. The planned development includes:

Six academic buildings with 45 classrooms
Administrative building
State-of-the-art library
Computer laboratory
School clinic
Virtual office facilities
Covered gymnasium

These facilities will not only boost student capacity but also provide a more conducive learning environment.

More Courses

The expansion will pave the way for new, in-demand academic programs aligned with Iloilo’s economic landscape. Among the proposed additions are:

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT)
Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM)
Additional industry-relevant courses to follow

These programs aim to produce graduates equipped for emerging sectors such as IT-BPM, hospitality, tourism, and business services.

The expansion of the Iloilo City Community College in Fort San Pedro marks a major milestone in the city’s education roadmap. With improved facilities, increased capacity, and new courses, the Iloilo City Government aims to open wider doors of opportunity for thousands of Ilonggo learners.

Building on the vision of both past and present city leadership, the new ICCC campus is set to become a symbol of progress—empowering more young Ilonggos to pursue higher education and a brighter future.

Ari ang bug-os nga mensahe ni Lej Angel Mariee G. Ruel, 2nd year BS Office Administration student sa ICCC:

"Bilang isa ka second-year student sang ICCC, when I first heard about the proposal for the new ICCC campus site, I was genuinely surprised and grateful. My initial reaction was, "Finally, may campus na kami nga mas dako kag stable place to continue our study nga face-to-face gid." Dako man ang akon kalipay kag pagpasalamat sa balita parte sa bag-o nga site. Isa ini ka bulig sa amon pag-eskwela, labi na gid pagtapos sang linog nga nagresulta nga mag-shift kami liwat sa online class bangud indi na safe ang amon nga building.

The idea of having sufficient classrooms and wider spaces immediately made me feel more motivated as a student. It means we will no longer worry about overcrowded rooms or unsafe areas.

As one of the students, who is part of the school's organizations. I was also excited thinking about the open spaces sa new site. It means that student organizations, especially if may events kami we will finally have a proper venue for practices and activities. When it comes naman sa organizations kag mga students nga ga participate sa events, we no longer need to roam around the entire city just to look for a gym or a place to practice. Even for simple free-time breaks, mas dako na ang lugar nga pwede namon ma-enjoy sa sulod sang campus kag indi na kinahanglan magguwa pa para maka-relax ukon maka-study.

Overall, the proposed new site gives us a clearer and brighter vision of what ICCC can become. It represents growth, safety, and opportunity—not only for us current students but also for the next generations. I am truly thankful to Mayor Raisa Treñas and everyone involved for considering the needs of ICCC and for giving us hope for a better learning environment."
