The College of Law organized a forum on the ACT SMART Campaign today, September 19, at the Auditorium of the WVSU College of Law Building.

The forum highlighted the importance of being mindful of what we share online, identifying misinformation, protecting personal privacy, and using technology responsibly. Students were encouraged to think critically, verify information, and become responsible digital citizens.

September 19 — WVSU TeatroTayo was invited by Let’s Clean Up Philippines (LCUP) to participate in this year’s clean-up drive held in Brgy. Calumpang, Molo.

Alongside the community clean-up, TeatroTayo also took part in the waste counting and categorization, helping sort different types of waste and collect data for the 2026 Waste Report.

The initiative brought together volunteers and community members in taking a small but meaningful step toward a cleaner and more sustainable community.

NEWS UPDATE: 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝗮-𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱’𝘀 ‘𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲’ 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

The University’s College of PESCAR alumnus Francis Cabinos will make his international stage debut after joining the cast of “Legally Blonde: The Musical” in Thailand.

The musical follows Elle Woods, a fashion-savvy sorority girl who enters Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend, eventually confronting stereotypes to realize her own capability.

In an interview with Forum-Dimensions, Cabinos shared that he is set to take on "multiple roles" throughout the musical's run, "including principal and ensemble responsibilities."

For him, the theater stint presents both excitement and challenges of exploring different characters and contributing to the story in various ways.

“Whether I am in a principal role or somewhere in the ensemble, I want to give the same energy, commitment, and love to the production,” Cabinos said.

"I am grateful that I still get to make space for the thing that has always been a big part of me: performing and creating," he added.

Cabinos previously served as vice chairperson of the University Student Council, and was a member of TeatroTayo, the University’s resident contemporary theater collective.

Beyond acting, Cabinos has written, directed and composed music for local productions, including a historical play “Ang Dalan sang Krus” in Leon, Iloilo and the street theater piece, “Eksena sa Tienda.”

He also composed some of the University's notable anthems, including the official "Pag-iririmaw" theme song, "Taga-West" for the 2024 University Days, and "SUC, Dali Na!” for the Commission on Higher Education’s 2023 State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Fair.

Organized by the Bangkok Community Theatre, the production will run from November 20 to 22 at the Bangkok Prep School Auditorium.

“We see you.” - The Mediator

When theater abandons the isolation of familiar stages and steps directly onto the pavement, the physical ground itself becomes an irreplaceable co-author of the work.

Every crack in the concrete, every ambient echo of daily labor, and every passing stranger immediately strips away artificiality.

The performance no longer asks an audience to suspend their disbelief; instead, it confronts them with the living reality of the space they inhabit.

By inhabiting places loaded with real-world history, memory, and struggle, creative expression fuses seamlessly with daily life.

The traditional boundaries between spectator and participant dissolve; a passing worker, a lingering local, or a concrete wall marked by time are no longer just surroundings, but active participants in the narrative.

In doing so, performance transforms a familiar location into a shared arena of truth, disrupting routine, unlocking collective memory, and leaving an indelible emotional charge on the space long after the final action subsides.

Grateful and excited to represent the Visayas Collective together with YATTA (Youth Advocates Through Theater Arts), USA Little Theater, Kanlaon Theater Guild Official, and Kasing Sining at the Asian Youth Theatre Festival (AYTF) in Brunei hosted by 247 Studios! 🎭

Bringing island stories, youth perspectives, and artistic heart to the Asian stage organized by Asian Youth Theatre Festival and Buds Theatre. Let’s weave art and connection!

AYTF serves as a vital platform for young artists across Asia to engage in cross-cultural exchange, collaborative performance, and advocacy through the arts. As part of the Visayan delegation, I look forward to sharing our region's unique narratives and fostering meaningful artistic networks across the continent.

VISAYAS COLLECTIVE from the Philippines -

YATTA
Youth Advocates through Theater Arts, hosts of AYTF Online 2021 and UA26 Residency programme. Founded in 2005, Youth Advocates Through Theater Arts (YATTA) was born out of the confluence of theatre and advocacy, as a youth-focused theatre organisation based in Dumaguete City.

USALT
University of San Agustin Little Theater, Iloilo City, hosts of AYTF 2023.
In past years, USALT devises stories for its plays based on the challenges of young people - winning the TAYO Award in 2014. USALT is the founder and host of the esteemed Iloilo Theater Festival.

Kanlaon Theater Guild
Kanlaon is a regular participant of National Commission for Culture and the Arts Tanghal: University and College Theater Festival from 2007 to 2019; Tampok: A National Theater Conference from 2018 and 2019. Iloilo Theater Festival by the
University of San Agustin-Iloilo from 2016 – 2019 and Kuris International Theater
Festival by the Women Playwrights International of the International Theater
Institute from 2011-2019.

Teatro Tayo
From Iloilo City, TT creates interdisciplinary, research-based work rooted in Filipino Culture, producing accessible, socially relevant performances that range from cultural and educational to experimental. It upholds a culture of excellence, collaboration, and inclusivity for all.

Kasing Sining
The core lies in theater emboding a dynamic fusion of artistic expressions. Empowered by a network of local and
international experts, the collective has honed its craft presenting Filipino and Boholano art and culture on the global stage.
