𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗠𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗢𝗘𝗦𝗡’𝗧 𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝗔𝗧 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬 🎬

The passion for storytelling goes beyond the four corners of the classroom!

Broadcasting student filmmakers and alumni from the West Visayas State University College of Communication brought pride to the university after winning major awards at the 𝗣𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗸𝘂𝗹𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗼 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, held at the WVSU Cultural Center on October 6, 2026.

The film of Panaysayón Productions, “𝗞𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝗡𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗶𝗻𝗽𝘂𝗴𝗮𝘀 𝗡𝗴𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗶𝘁,” directed by Broadcasting alumnus Arcel Vinz Agudo alongside his production crew, earned Second Best Film under the Agrarian Reform Beneficiary (ARB) Category. Meanwhile, Broadcasting alumna Danica Pascua took home the award for Best Supporting Actress.

Another film making its mark is “𝗞𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗞𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀” under Kalanget Productions, directed by Broadcasting alumnus JN Diaz, with Joseph Columida, a BA Broadcasting 2-A student, taking the lead role. The film earned Best Trailer and the Jury Award for Artistic Merit, further highlighting the talent and creativity of our Broadcasting community.

These achievements prove that the lessons, skills, and creativity nurtured within the university can flourish beyond graduation. From alumni leading productions to current students bringing characters to life, our Broadcasting filmmakers continue to demonstrate the power of collaboration and meaningful storytelling.

The 𝗖𝗢𝗖 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 brings its skills and teamwork to the 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 of 𝗖𝗢𝗖 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 2026, serving as the production crew behind every on-air moment. From preparation to ex*****on, they help ensure that the show goes on and everything is settled.

As the COC community celebrates another exciting year, the Broadcast Guild together with the guidance and full support of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗶𝗹 𝗝𝗼𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗴, continues to show that broadcasting is a collective effort. From handling the technical equipment to managing the production flow, every member plays an important role in bringing the news to life. It may take place behind the scenes, but the dedication, teamwork, and effort of the crew, guided by leadership are always part of the bigger picture.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗙𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗢𝗡 𝗖𝗨𝗘🎬

The newsroom once again came alive as student representatives from each curriculum of the College of Communication put their news delivery skills and confidence to the test in the 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 during 𝗖𝗢𝗖 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 held on Wednesday, October 7.

Beyond the competition, each contestant strived to deliver their best performance for the chance to represent the College at the next University Days, carrying the challenge of continuing COC’s winning legacy and bringing home another victory.

Behind every organization that continues to grow is someone who guides it along the way. Thank you, Dr. Mil Joe Cabag, our Broadcast Guild Adviser, for being more than just our adviser. Your guidance, patience, encouragement, and constant reminders have helped us navigate our responsibilities, make better decisions, and grow together as an organization.

Behind every microphone, script, and story we create are the professors who taught us how to find our voice.

Through their encouragement, we learned to make our voices heard, build our confidence, connect with others, and grow in our craft. Every reminder, critique, and word of support became part of the journey that shaped us as broadcasters.

Their voices became part of our own, guiding us as we continue to tell stories, connect with people, and find our place in the world of broadcasting.

𝗪𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗞𝗢𝗠 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧! 🏆

A proud moment for 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 as 𝗘𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝘆 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗲 of 𝗕𝗔 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 4-𝗕 takes the championship in the 88.7 𝗞5 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗙𝗠 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝘆, held yesterday at Robinson’s Place Iloilo.

Edelyn’s performance earned her the top spot among the competing student broadcasters, showcasing her skills, preparation, and passion for broadcasting.

As this year’s champion, she will represent Iloilo and carry the name of WVSU in the 𝗞5 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗙𝗠 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝘆 this coming November 8.

We also extend our appreciation to her coach, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗥𝗮𝗳𝗳𝘆 𝗦. 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻, for his guidance and support throughout the competition.
