Bridging the Gap: Workplace Preparation and Labor Awareness for Future IT Professionals 2026

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) 4th Year students successfully conducted their seminar as part of the course requirement for Seminars/Tours, under the guidance of Course Facilitator Instr. Teddy S. Fuentivilla.

The event featured insightful discussions from distinguished guest speakers who shared valuable knowledge and real-world experiences to help prepare students for their future careers in the professional industry.

Ms. Roselle D. Lao, Certified Human Resource Practitioner, opened the seminar with her topic โ€œResume, Interview, and Workplace Preparation,โ€ equipping students with practical skills and confidence for future job applications and workplace challenges.

Mr. Salvador Somes Jr. discussed โ€œProfessionalism in the Workplace, Labor Practices, and Employee Rights,โ€ emphasizing the importance of workplace ethics, professionalism, and understanding employee rights and responsibilities.

During the afternoon session, Ms. Maria Lucy U. Muralla presented โ€œLabor Laws, Just Cause for Termination, and Labor Unions,โ€ providing students with a deeper understanding of labor regulations, employee protection, and workplace responsibilities.

To conclude the seminar, Mr. Ervin John DS. Soriano tackled โ€œCybersecurity and Threats,โ€ highlighting the importance of cybersecurity awareness and the growing digital risks faced in todayโ€™s modern industries.

The seminar served as an excellent training ground for BSIT students as they prepare to transition from academic life to professional careers. Through the guidance of the guest speakers and the engaging activities conducted throughout the event, participants gained valuable insights, practical knowledge, and enhanced career readiness.

Congratulations to the BSIT IV students for the successful conduct of the seminar!

This yearโ€™s competition has already shattered records, featuring over 230 teams and 1,000 participants from across 8 ASEAN nations.

Representing the group in the Climate Change Resilience track, these innovators are focusing on AI-driven solutions for disaster mitigation and emergency responseโ€”a critical pillar for a resilient ASEAN.

Importance of Boxplots in Data Visualization๐Ÿ“Š

A boxplot (also known as a box-and-whisker plot) is one of the most powerful and compact tools used in data visualization. It provides a clear summary of the distribution of a dataset using five key statistics: minimum, first quartile (Q1), median, third quartile (Q3), and maximum.

1๏ธโƒฃ Quick Understanding of Data Distribution

Boxplots allow researchers to quickly understand how data are distributed. Instead of analyzing long tables of numbers, a boxplot visually shows whether the data are symmetrical, skewed, or spread out. For example, in your figure, you can easily compare how values differ between T1D and control groups across multiple parameters.

2๏ธโƒฃ Easy Comparison Between Groups

One of the biggest advantages of boxplots is their ability to compare multiple groups side by side. In your image:

Each panel (Aโ€“H) compares T1D vs Controls

Differences in medians and spread are immediately visible

3๏ธโƒฃ Identification of Outliers

Boxplots clearly highlight outliers, which are extreme values that fall outside the normal range of the data. These are usually plotted as individual points beyond the whiskers.

Detecting outliers is important because they may indicate:

Experimental errors

Biological variation

Important rare events

4๏ธโƒฃ Visualization of Data Spread and Variability

The length of the box (IQR = Q3 โˆ’ Q1) represents the variability in the dataset:

A large box โ†’ high variability

A small box โ†’ low variability

This helps in understanding how consistent your data are across treatments or conditions.

5๏ธโƒฃ Median as a Robust Measure

Unlike the mean, the median shown in a boxplot is not affected by extreme values. This makes boxplots particularly useful when:

Data are skewed

Outliers are present

In biological and environmental studies, this is very common.

6๏ธโƒฃ Integration with Statistical Significance

In your figure, p-values (e.g., 0.03,

A NOR gate is called a universal gate because it can be used to build all basic logic gates. The NOR operation gives output 1 only when both inputs are 0. By connecting inputs together, a NOR gate works as a NOT gate (inverter). Using two NOR gates, we can create an OR gate by inverting twice. With proper combinations and using De Morganโ€™s law, an AND gate can also be formed. Further combinations allow us to build NAND, XOR, XNOR, and even a buffer.
The key idea is inversion and recombination. NOR naturally produces a complemented output, so by carefully arranging stages, we cancel or use these inversions to get the desired logic. This makes NOR extremely useful in digital circuit design, reducing the need for multiple types of gates.
Understanding this concept helps in simplifying circuits, improving design flexibility, and forming the foundation of digital electronics.
