His research looks into the human competencies essential to the future of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS), exploring the perspectives of VTS Operators and Shipboard Navigation Officers. As maritime technology moves toward greater autonomy, the study emphasizes an enduring truth: the future of shipping still depends on people who are prepared to navigate it.

From Iloilo to the international research stage, this achievement reflects the power of education, inquiry, and a commitment to shaping the future of maritime safety.

Demonstrating its growing leadership in innovation and higher education, JBLFMU shines on the national stage as two of its head’s secure places in the prestigious CHED-HUSAY Project ATTAIN (Advancing Technology in Tertiary Education through Artificial Intelligence) Scholarship Program, a testament to their dedication to excellence and transformative learning.

Selected through a rigorous nationwide screening process that brought together educators and institutional leaders from colleges and universities across the Philippines, Dr. Maria Cristina P. Arante, Head of Learning Innovations and Technology Services, and Ms. Daishel A. Balsomo, Head of Web and Media Production, proudly represented JBLFMU in this prestigious national cohort. Their selection reflects both their professional excellence and the University's growing commitment to innovation-driven education.

Project ATTAIN is a premier professional development initiative under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) designed to empower higher education leaders to maximize artificial intelligence and emerging digital tools in tertiary education. The program equips participants as "Learning Architects", enabling them to design AI-enhanced instructional frameworks, modern media production workflows, and future-ready course modules while safeguarding academic integrity, human expertise, and critical thinking.
