BREAKING: ILOILO CITY BACK TO MGCQ ON SEPT. 1-30

In a press briefing on Friday, Mayor Jerry Treñas said that he was informed by Department of Interior and Local Government that Iloilo City will be under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) classfication from September 1-30, 2020.

"Gusto ko man i-announce sa inyo nga ginpabalo na ako sang DILG nga ang aton classfication halin sa September 1, which is Tuesday, up to September 30 will be MGCQ."

"As long as gahatag ang tanan sang suporta, masarangan ta ni," Treñas said.

Blessed Pope John Paul II, soon to be canonized as a saint by year-end, visited Iloilo City on February 1981.

This commemorative envelope and stamp features the Pope in Iloilo City and the great mass of Ilonggos who flocked to see the Vicar of Christ. Seen in this photo the ruined Jaro Belfry and the Jaro Plaza Bandstand engulfed by thousands of Ilonggos in 1981.
