University of San Agustin - Conservatory of Music The USA Conservatory of Music was founded in 1967 by the Augustinian friar and musician, Rev. Fr. Santiago Ezcurra, OSA. It's the only conservatory in WV.

Kaya taralets! Samahan ang 𝗨𝗦𝗔𝗖𝗢𝗠 sa “𝐓𝐮𝐠𝐭𝐨𝐠, 𝐇𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐠, 𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐲𝐨𝐧,” isang konsiyerto featuring the incredible talents of our students and alumni. Isang gabing puno ng music, passion, at Filipino pride na magpapatunay na buhay na buhay pa rin ang pagmamahal sa musikang Pilipino. 🤍

𝗔𝗸𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗺𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗻𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗼? Sandali lang… ’di mo pa ito naririnig! Featuring works by 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼, 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗼, 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗼 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗿𝗼, 𝗧𝗝 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲, 𝗘𝗹𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮, 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗻, at marami pang minamahal na Filipino musicians. Diasporic Gong Music Culture and the Creation of Banua Katao

Join us for an inspiring afternoon of dialogue, performance, and cultural exchange exploring the evolving landscape of Filipino diasporic gong music culture and performing arts.

The University of San Agustin Conservatory of Music, in collaboration with the Fine Arts Department, proudly welcomes distinguished artists from the Filipino diaspora:

Ron Querian – Hawaiʻi-based musician, composer, Professor of the Philippine Ensemble at the University of Hawaiʻi, and Co-founder of House of Gongs.

Lydia Querian – Hawaiʻi-based fashion designer, cultural practitioner, and co-founder of House of Gongs and Elle Karayan, known for her work centered on the philosophy "Indigenous Is the Future."

Carmelle Cachero – Ottawa-based tap dancer and kulintang practitioner whose work bridges rhythm, movement, and Indigenous Filipino traditions.

Through a dialogue, and a special performance, our guests will share how Indigenous Filipino culture is interpreted, embodied, and reimagined across the diaspora through innovation while remaining deeply rooted in tradition. The program also features the story behind the creation of Banua Katao, a new interdisciplinary work emerging from these ongoing cultural conversations.

After four inspiring days of coaching, collaboration, and immersion in the worlds of poetry, music, and storytelling, our participants take the stage for a special culminating concert.

Experience an evening of beautiful repertoire featuring arias from opera and oratorio, German Lieder, art songs, and the highlight of the program—Filipino Art Songs and Kundiman—presented in celebration of the Independence Day of the Philippines.
