The LAKAS Youth Organization firmly denounces the spread of anonymous attacks and misinformation within our academic community. Hiding behind anonymity to discredit others is not courage—it is a refusal to be accountable. Such actions are alarming and go against the principles of respect, integrity, and responsible leadership that we strive to uphold. We must not tolerate behavior that spreads harm, misinformation, and division. Accountability should always accompany freedom of expression.
We call on all students to take a stand. Freedom of expression is a right, but it is never a license to harm. Words carry weight; when used irresponsibly, they become tools of division and injustice. Let us be mindful of the information we consume and share. Refuse to engage in, react to, or amplify unverified claims. Instead, promote a culture of respect, critical thinking, and accountability. Every reaction, share, and comment has the power to either fuel harm or uphold truth. Choose wisely. Choose integrity. If you encounter harmful content, report it through proper channels rather than contributing to the spread of negativity.
To those who hide behind anonymity to spread false rumors or launch personal attacks, we urge you to reflect on the impact of your actions. Words, whether spoken openly or sent anonymously, carry weight and consequences. Choose to use your voice responsibly. The absence of a name does not remove accountability. Integrity is defined not by what we do in public, but by what we choose to do when no one is watching. If there are concerns, address them through proper and respectful channels rather than resorting to harmful and unfounded accusations.
We also urge page administrators and online platforms within our university to implement stricter screening and filtering of anonymous submissions. While these spaces may aim to encourage openness, they must also prioritize the protection of individuals’ mental health and well-being. Clear guidelines, responsible moderation, and ethical content management are essential to prevent the misuse of anonymity.
As an organization, we stand for a community grounded in truth, guided by empathy, and strengthened by mutual respect. Let us reject toxicity and rise above it. Let us create a space where voices are heard fairly, where criticism is grounded in truth, and where dignity is never compromised.
Now more than ever, we must choose who we are.
In moments like this, may we choose integrity over impulse, and unity over division.
