1st Year Representative: Sharaine Ghail Taaca – 94 votes

📣 SAL SPECIAL ELECTIONS 2025 ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

To the students of the College of Law:

Please be advised that the Student Commission on Elections of the College of Law humbly declares a FAILURE OF ELECTIONS for the First Year and Third Year Batch Representatives due to a low voter turnout.

The 2025-2026 SAL Special Elections, held on September 15, 2025, did not reach the majority of the total student population for the respective year levels.

Voter Turnout:

First Year Representative: Only 40.7% of the 130 students voted.

Third Year Representative: Only 43.9% of the 123 students participated.

In response to this, as stated in RESOLUTION NO. 001-2025 and according to Article VII, Section 6 of the Sigma Alpha Lex Constitution and By-laws, there will be a 48-HOUR EXTENSION of the voting period. This is to provide an opportunity for students who were unable to vote to exercise their right to suffrage. All votes cast during this extension will be added to the previously accumulated number of votes.

📢 ANNOUNCEMENT SAL 2025–2026 SPECIAL ELECTIONS VOTING GUIDELINES

To all students of the USA College of Law, please be guided by the following important rules for the upcoming SAL Elections:

🕘 Time of Voting

Voting will open on September 15, 2025 (Monday) at 8:00 AM and will close at 10:00 PM on the same day.

No votes will be accepted beyond the closing time.

💻 Manner of Voting

The election will be conducted online through secret ballots.

Proxy voting and block voting are strictly prohibited.

Only eligible students of the USA College of Law may vote using their official USA Email Address.

Each student is entitled to one (1) vote only.

A confirmation receipt will be sent to your USA email after you cast your vote.

📱 Alternative Voting (via Text Message in Case of Difficulty)
If you experience technical difficulties, you may cast your vote via text message under these conditions:

Inform your class representative of the reason (e.g., internet connection issues, gadget malfunction, power outage, emergency, etc.).

Your class president must verify and vouch for the truthfulness of your circumstance.

Your text vote must include your full name, section, student number, and chosen candidates.

Send your message to your batch representative, who will then forward it to SCOMEL for official tallying.

⚖️ Strict compliance with these guidelines is required to ensure a smooth, fair, and credible election process.

Did you know?

Section 3 of Article V of the Sigma Alpha Lex Constitution sets out the qualifications for a student to run for any vacant position—and these qualifications must be complied with, supported by certainty and proof.

In line with this, the Student Commission on Elections is officially opening the application for the following vacant positions:

• 1st Year Batch Representative
• 3rd Year Batch Representative
