This National Heroes Day, West Visayas State University honors the people who help keep the University moving forward each day.

Our heroes are not only found in history books. They are the people who teach, lead, serve, care, protect, maintain, and show up every day—whether in classrooms and offices, in our hospital, at our gates, or behind the scenes. Their work may take different forms, but each contributes to the University's mission and to the people we serve.

Today, we recognize the WVSU community whose everyday acts of service, dedication, and responsibility help make this University what it is. Thank you for being part of the work of Transforming Generations.

The University has identified phishing attempts involving individuals or organizations falsely representing themselves as WVSU officials and sending fraudulent emails to University domain users.

We advise all stakeholders to:

🔎 Verify the sender and email address before responding or taking action.

📧 Check that official University communications come from authorized .edu.ph email addresses.

🚫 Do not click suspicious links, open unexpected attachments, or provide sensitive information.

✅ When in doubt, verify the message through an official University channel or contact the MIS Office.

WVSU-CAF warmly welcomes two newly appointed personnel as they take on their new roles in the institution.

Mr. Mark Laurence G. Lastimozo and Mr. Leo L. Capadosa are appointed as Security Guard I in the Security Unit.

Mr. Lastimozo brings with him eighteen (18) years of dedicated service as an Agency Guard of the College, while Mr. Capadosa has three (3) years of service.

Their years of service, experience, and commitment are valuable contributions to the safety and security of the WVSU-CAF community.

Congratulations to Chairperson Jessie Ajera Jr., Vice Chairperson Jushua Sobrevega, and Councilor Renato Libalib Jr. for being elected as members of the WVSU Federated Student Council Board during the meeting held on August 20, 2026 via Google Meet. Your election is not just a title — it is a calling. A calling to bring the voice of AFSC, to sow ideas, and to harvest meaningful change for students across the entire WVSU System.

West Visayas State University observes Friday, August 21, 2026, as Ninoy Aquino Day, a special non-working day pursuant to Proclamation No. 1006, s. 2025, declaring the regular holidays and special non-working days for 2026.

Observed annually on August 21, Ninoy Aquino Day commemorates the life and legacy of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino Jr. The date marks the anniversary of his death in 1983 and is declared a special non-working day under Republic Act No. 9256.

𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

In consideration of the prevailing weather conditions and the prolonged rains experienced over the past several days, West Visayas State University students attending face-to-face lectures and other classroom-based activities may temporarily wear appropriate civilian clothes.

Students undertaking Related Learning Experience (RLE), clerkship, and other clinical activities shall wear their prescribed duty uniforms, in accordance with the requirements of their respective programs and training institutions.

Students attending lectures in the University are reminded to:
- Wear their WVSU identification cards at all times while inside the University premises;
- Observe decency and propriety in their choice of civilian clothing; and
- Comply with the guidelines on proper attire prescribed in the WVSU Student Handbook.

Students are encouraged to wear comfortable, practical, and weather-appropriate clothing and footwear, particularly when traveling through areas affected by rain, flooding, and muddy conditions.

This temporary accommodation is intended to promote the safety, comfort, and well-being of students while maintaining the standards of decorum expected within the University.

Please be guided accordingly and continue to prioritize your safety.

𝐖𝐕𝐒𝐔-𝐂𝐀𝐅 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

August 17, 2026 — The West Visayas State University–College of Agriculture and Forestry (WVSU-CAF) gathered its faculty and staff for a General Faculty and Staff Meeting at the Student’s Center to discuss key institutional concerns, upcoming activities, and priority initiatives.

The meeting focused on organizational risk, the results of the Top Management and IQA Audit, External ISO Audit, the Agriculture and Forestry Refresher Course, University Hinampang, and the 2027 Budget Proposal.

Also discussed were preparations for the 75th Foundation Day and Alumni Homecoming, updates on Income-Generating Projects (IGPs), and matters concerning the Task Force El Niño Committee, along with other concerns of the College community.

The gathering provided an avenue for faculty and staff to align plans, share updates, and strengthen collaboration in support of WVSU-CAF’s continuing institutional development.

Moving forward together for a stronger, more responsive, and quality-driven WVSU-CAF.

WVSU President Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz earns Rank 10 among the Top 10 SUC Presidents of the Philippines recognized as Scopus producers and researchers by GHF University Excellence, an academic initiative and think tank supporting higher education institutions in strengthening research programs, advancing Scopus-indexed publications, and enhancing global academic competitiveness.

More than a ranking, it reflects a commitment to keeping research at the heart of academic leadership—connecting WVSU scholarship to the wider global community of knowledge.
