The Faculty of Teacher Education โ€“ VSU Isabel Campus proudly marked another milestone with the successful conduct of its 4th Pinning Ceremony for 173 student interns from the Department of Teacher Education and the Department of Physical Education. The event was held on August 20, 2026, at the VSU Isabel Social Hall.

The program opened with a Thanksgiving Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Danilo M. Zamora, followed by the formal rites. Asst. Prof. Maria Cristina P. Buba, Head of the Department of Physical Education, delivered the Opening Remarks, underscoring the symbolic importance of the pinning ceremony as a commitment to the teaching profession.

The highlight of the event was the inspirational message of Ms. Vivien R. Libres, Guest Speaker and Guidance and Advocacy Coordinator of New Ormoc City National High School. A proud alumna of VSU Isabel, Ms. Libres shared her journey as an educator and encouraged the interns to teach with compassion, resilience, and purpose.

The ceremony was graced by Dr. Leo A. Mamolo, Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Education, who emphasized the internsโ€™ readiness to embrace the noble calling of teaching and their responsibility to uphold the values of the university.

Also present were Dr. Esperanza E. Sumalinog, Head of the Department of Teacher Education, and Asst. Prof. Maria Cristina P. Buba, Head of the Department of Physical Education, together with the teachingโ€‘internship supervisors: Mr. Kimkim R. Zabate, Mr. Gemo J. Ocon (BPED), Ms. Fatima Mae de Guzmanโ€‘Declaros, Ms. Maria Glyndyl T. Declaro (BSED English), Ms. Susanie B. Aquilles (BSED Math), Ms. Nanette Y. Galvezโ€‘Morales (BSED Science), Dr. Maria Cecilia L. Tarroza, Ms. Sheena Kae F. Lunaโ€‘Villaber, and Ms. Erra Mae B. Bates (BEED).

The symbolic Candle Lighting and Pinning Rites followed, signifying the internsโ€™ readiness to illuminate the path of learning and service.

Representing the graduating class, Ms. Shikainah Reign Siimbajon (BPED 4) delivered the Batch Message, voicing the collective aspirations of the interns as they prepare to enter the field of practice.

The program then moved to the Senior Class Song โ€œToday My Life Beginsโ€ and the VSU Hymn, led by selected BPED students.

Finally, the ceremony concluded with the Closing Remarks of Dr. Esperanza E. Sumalinog, who reminded the interns of their duty to uphold excellence and integrity in their practice schools.

This yearโ€™s Pinning Ceremony stands as a testament to VSU Isabelโ€™s continuing commitment to nurturing competent, valueโ€‘driven, and futureโ€‘ready educators.

The Faculty of Teacher Education โ€“ VSU Isabel officially commenced the twoโ€‘day deployment of student interns as part of their course PrEd 200 โ€“ Teaching Internship. This milestone marks the transition of senior education students from classroom learning to realโ€‘world teaching experience across partner schools in the district.

On August 24, 2026, elementary and secondary student interns were deployed to the following schools: BNHS, Bilwang ES, Matlang CS, MNHS, Libertad ES, Mahayag ES, INHS, INCS, Relocation ES, and Isabel CS.

The following day, August 25, 2026, the deployment continued with elementary and secondary student interns assigned to PCCC St. Filomena NHS, MVS, Merida CS, Macario ES, Calunagan NHS, Benabaye ES, Anislag ES, Tabunok ES, Cantuhaon NHS, and SFNHS.

Leading the activity were Dr. Esperanza E. Sumalinog, Head of the Department of Teacher Education, and Asst. Prof. Maria Cristina P. Buba, Head of the Department of Physical Education, together with the respective teachingโ€‘internship supervisors:

The Faculty of Teacher Education โ€“ VSU Isabel is set to conduct its 4th Pinning Ceremony tomorrow, August 20, at the VSU Isabel Social Hall.

A total of 173 senior student teachers will take part in this symbolic event marking their transition from academic preparation to professional practice. The ceremony will feature a thanksgiving mass, inspirational messages from university officials and guests, and the traditional candle lighting and pinning rites โ€” signifying their readiness to serve as future educators.
