As we celebrate National Arts Month and Love Month, we are reminded of what it means to be human: to connect with others, to create, and to live a meaningful life. These two celebrations may seem different, but they share a powerful lesson they both inspire us to grow, to contribute, and to leave a positive mark in the world.
National Arts Month encourages us to reflect on the role of the arts not only in galleries or museums but in our daily lives. Every one of us is an artist in our own right. Each choice we make, every effort we give, and every challenge we overcome contribute to the masterpiece that is our life. As students and future professionals in the College of Industrial Technology, you are not only learning technical skills but also developing creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills to shape your own future and impact your community. Remember: you are the greatest artist of your own life. The lines, sketches, and colors of your journey are yours to create.
At the same time, Love Month reminds us that love is the greatest language of all. Love connects us to our families, friends, peers, and to our Creator. It teaches forgiveness, patience, empathy, and understanding. It inspires us to rise above pain, to let go of grudges, and to nurture growth in ourselves and others. Love strengthens communities and builds harmony in relationships, essential not only for personal success but also for the progress of society.
These lessons also connect to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Quality education empowers us to reach our full potential, reminding us that education is not only about grades but about developing skills, character, and values that last a lifetime. Culture and creativity are key to building strong, sustainable communities, highlighting the importance of arts and innovation in our growth and in the betterment of our society. Finally, harmony, fairness, and respect are essential in all relationships; love, compassion, and understanding are necessary to create peaceful and productive communities.
As we embark on the year 2026, to the students of the College of Industrial Technology, I have an important message: โBelieve in your dreams and work hard for them. The moment you never try, you have already failedโ. There is no magic in success it comes from effort, determination, and perseverance. It comes from showing up, learning from mistakes, and never giving up, even when the journey is difficult.
Pain and challenges are part of the process. Life is not meant to be only about happiness. โEndure the pains as part of the process.โ Every struggle you face, every obstacle you overcome, shapes you into a stronger, wiser, and more resilient individual. Do not let distractions, manipulators, or negativity take you away from your path. Pray continually, remain focused, and surround yourself with people who inspire and uplift you. Your dreams are not only yours, but they are also part of the hopes and aspirations of your families, your communities, and even your country. Respect them. Fight for them. Make them happen.
As we begin this new semester, let us open our hearts and minds to learning, creativity, and collaboration. Let us work together to make the College of Industrial Technology and the entire SKSU community stronger and better. Every act of diligence, every effort to learn and to help others, every moment of patience, contributes to a culture of excellence, compassion, and service.
In this month of love, remember: the greatest love is forgiveness. Let go of past pains, embrace understanding, and lift up those around you. Love is truly the universal language; it unites, heals, and inspires. In this National Arts Month and Love Month, let us carry these lessons forward not only now but every day. โCreate with purpose. Learn with passion. Lead with love. Endure challenges. Strive for excellenceโ. Together, we can make the College of Industrial Technology a place of innovation, growth, and inspiration. Together, we can create a brighter future for ourselves, for our college, and for the entire SKSU community.
