𝗨𝗦𝗠𝗘𝗖’𝘀 𝗥𝗮𝗽𝘂𝘇𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Lolybeth Anne G. Rapuza, a 4 BSE-A student and an officer of the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 (𝐔𝐒𝐌𝐄𝐂), was invited to serve as a judge for the Arnisadors during the Congressional Meet 2026 held at B.A. Calamba National High School, Pangao-an, Magpet, Cotabato, last August 21, 2026.

A Gold Medalist in Arnis during the MASTS Friendship Games 2025, Rapuza brought her expertise and experience in the sport as she evaluated the performances of participating athletes while promoting fairness, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

USMEC proudly recognizes Rapuza’s achievement and continued contribution to the promotion of Arnis as she represents the organization through her dedication, excellence, and passion for Filipino martial arts.

“Poetry doesn't just describe the world, it helps us feel it. Honoring poets past and present this National Poet's Day.”

As the University of Southern Mindanao English Club joins the world in celebrating National Poet's Day, we honor every poet whose words have crossed generations, stirred emotions, and given voice to the human experience. From the classics we study to the verses our own members write, poetry reminds us that language is more than communication, it is art, memory, and connection.

Closer to home, Cotabato has given the country its own literary voice in Francis C. Macansantos, born in Cotabato City, a five-time Palanca Award winner in English poetry, and author of collections like ‘‘The Words and Other Poems’’ and the National Book Award-winning ‘‘Snail Fever’’. His work stands as proof that poetry doesn't only belong to distant names in textbooks, it also rises from home soil, from Mindanaoan hills and stories.

To every Mindanaoan poet finding their voice, and every reader who feels seen in a stanza: this day is for you. May we keep writing, keep reading, and keep believing in the quiet power of words. 📜✨

The 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 (𝐔𝐒𝐌𝐄𝐂) proudly congratulates its freshmen members who successfully passed the screening and were selected to represent the College of Education (CED) in Freshmen Day 2026!

Representing USMEC in the Comical Skit are Eduard S. Escarlan, Ashley Untal Balatayo, Marco Ferrer Roldan, and Mark Anthon Gregorio Macuja, who are set to bring their humor, energy, and talent to the stage.

Meanwhile, Carl Kevin Romero of 1 BSE English emerged as the winner of the CED Freshmen FB Frame Making, showcasing his creativity and artistic flair.

Bilang mga mag-aaral ng English, ang pagiging bihasa sa isang wika ay hindi nangangahulugang paglimot sa iba. Sa halip, mahalaga ang pagpapahalaga sa Filipino bilang bahagi ng ating kultura at pagkakakilanlan.

Sa temang “Wikang Filipino at AI: Kasangkapan sa Pananaliksik at Tulay sa Yaman ng Impormasyon,” gamitin natin ang AI bilang katuwang sa pananaliksik, sa paghahanap ng konsepto, pagbuo ng ideya, at pag-aayos ng impormasyon. Gayunpaman, huwag nating kalimutan ang kritikal na pag-iisip, sariling pagsusuri, at pagtiyak sa katotohanan.

Ating pagyamanin ang sariling atin, mahalin ang bansa, at linangin ang kulturang Pilipino! 🩵

𝗔 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀: 𝗨𝗦𝗠𝗘𝗖 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲-𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳

The 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 (𝗨𝗦𝗠𝗘𝗖) officially started the new academic year with its 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔.𝗬. 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲–𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳 on 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, led by USMEC President 𝗣𝗶𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗲 𝗘. 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗮. The assembly brought together officers and members to introduce the USMEC Officers, Committees, and Adviser. The organization’s accreditation was also discussed as part of the preparations for the new academic year.

The members also talked about the major activities lined up for this year, including:

📌 𝗢𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗦𝗠𝗘𝗖 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀

The assembly also included the 𝗨𝗦𝗠𝗘𝗖 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗿𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, where 𝗖𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗻: 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝟰 was selected as the chosen design. Other concerns were also raised during the meeting. To close the assembly, President Pia Mae E. Calumba reminded everyone to always 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁, especially when interacting with faculty members. She emphasized the importance of being mindful of our words, actions, and behavior, whether inside or outside the classroom. As members of USMEC, everyone is encouraged to show proper respect, listen when others are speaking, and maintain a positive attitude when working with faculty, officers, and fellow members.

With the new academic year officially underway, USMEC looks forward to more activities, new experiences, and opportunities to grow together as a club.
