A violent act begets violence and solidarity obtained through violence will never last as it will never achieve authentic appreciation from nature. I can still remember my early years in the Fraternity of having just survived the dreaded Initiation Rites of Tau Gamma Phi, the most feared Initiation Rites in Cebu during our time. I would say that the experience had transformed my personality as I became more intimidating and feared by my contemporaries. I also observed that I was becoming a bit arrogant and irritable. Well, I couldn't see any other reasons to have caused those but definitely a result of the grueling experience from the Initiation Rites. On a positive note, I gained brothers and sisters; a new Family; A great Family, my Fraternity, Tau Gamma Phi; and I am still very proud of it. Nevertheless, I also realized I was losing a lot of friends, but not because of the Fraternity, but due to the unfriendly transformation of my attitude towards them. Then as time went by, I started learning by heart the Tenets and Code of Conduct, as well as their significance to God and Society. I did realize that our Fraternity was (and still is) advocating Universal Brotherhood. From that moment, I slowly imbibed the true meaning of our Principles and eventually regained the Trust, Confidence, and Friendship of my Friends. I gained my friends back because of practicing the Triskelion Principles, and all my friends eventually trusted our Fraternity. In fact, a quite number of them are already Triskelions themselves.... To cut the long story short, I became a member of Tau Gamma Phi because I underwent the Initiation Rites, but I became a True Triskelion when I started to practice the true essence of our Principles, specifically the Tenets and Code of Conduct.... My dear Brothers and Sisters, it is not yet too late to harmonize our Traditions with our Principles. We really need to achieve this because if our Traditions are not in harmony with our Principles (Tenets and COC), then likely it would be very difficult for us to achieve the Supremacy we proudly acclaimed....
