“𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗜𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝗿”: 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟰𝟯 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼’𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆

Ninoy Aquino Day, observed every August 21, honors the life and sacrifice of Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., one of the most prominent Filipino leaders who courageously stood for democracy, freedom, and the rights of the Filipino people. From a young age, Aquino devoted himself to public service and later became one of the country’s youngest senators. Throughout his political career, he spoke firmly against injustice and advocated for reforms that he believed would lead to a better future for the nation.

When martial law was declared in 1972, Aquino emerged as one of the strongest voices opposing the Marcos administration. His stand against authoritarian rule resulted in his imprisonment and, later, exile in the United States. Despite the dangers surrounding his return, he chose to come home to the Philippines on August 21, 1983, hoping to help bring about peaceful political change. He famously expressed his love for the country through the words, “𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙙𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧.” However, shortly after arriving at the Manila International Airport, he was assassinated, shocking the nation and awakening a renewed sense of courage among Filipinos.

Ninoy Aquino’s death became a defining moment in Philippine history. His sacrifice inspired millions of Filipinos to stand together against oppression, eventually contributing to the 1986 People Power Revolution and the restoration of democracy. Today, Ninoy Aquino Day reminds us that democracy is strengthened by courage, unity, and responsible citizenship. His legacy continues to inspire Filipinos to stand for justice, protect freedom, choose peaceful action, and place the welfare of the nation above personal interest.

From leading Letran to a 3-peat NCAA championship from 2019-2022, to winning 2 straight MPBL titles with Pampanga Giant Lanterns, and getting drafted to the PBA— Kurt brought his winning mentality and championship experience to our boys today.

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐊𝐃𝐂𝐈 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩

Young voices took the stage as student representatives from Kidapawan Doctors’ College, Inc. (KDCI) joined the Linggo ng Kabataan Local Youth Forum on August 15, 2026, at the Kidapawan City Gymnasium.

Organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Poblacion, the forum brought together young learners for a meaningful day of dialogue, leadership-building, and civic engagement, highlighting the vital role of the youth in shaping their communities and the nation.

KDCI was represented by nine college students coming from different year levels and academic programs.

The students are as follows:

3. Macmod, Hianne (BSRT)
4. Usman, Rohanie (BSRT)
5. Pedroso, Angel Rose (BSPSY)

9. Palomaria, Philip (BSPSY)

Their participation provided them with an opportunity to share their perspectives, exchange experiences, and engage in discussions concerning the youth and their role in nation-building.

Held from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the forum formed part of the celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan, emphasizing the importance of empowering young people to become active, responsible, and engaged members of society.

More than simply gathering young people in one venue, the activity served as a platform where their voices were heard and their ideas were valued. Through open discussions and meaningful exchanges, the participants were encouraged to recognize their potential as catalysts for positive change within their communities.

By taking part in the forum, KDCI students demonstrated that youth participation goes beyond attendance—it is about showing up, speaking up, and stepping up for the community.
