Hi, University of Abra (UniA)! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’™
11/08/2026

Hi, University of Abra (UniA)! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’™

Abra now has its first state university.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has approved the compliance of the Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST) with the requirements for conversion into the University of Abra, making it the provinceโ€™s first and only state university following its substantial compliance with the requirements for university status.

The milestone supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.โ€™s emphasis on raising the quality of Philippine higher education. ASISTโ€™s conversion followed CHEDโ€™s validation of its compliance with established university standards, underscoring that institutional growth must be matched by demonstrated academic and organizational capacity.

For learners, this provides greater assurance that the University of Abraโ€™s expanded role is built on established standards of quality.
