𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐭𝐞𝐤𝐬𝐭𝐨 || 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗶 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆

Hindi lahat ng bayani ay may kapang isinusuot. Minsan, sila ay mga taong piniling tumayo kahit alam nilang may kapalit ang kanilang paninindigan. Sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas, isa ang kaniyang pangalan na maihahambing sa tapang at sakripisyo.

Siya si 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼 “𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆” 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗝𝗿.

Ngayong Agosto 21, ginugunita natin ang 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗗𝗮𝘆. Isang araw na hindi lamang nakalaan sa pag-alala sa isang taong pinaslang, kundi sa pagninilay sa mga prinsipyo at kalayaang ipinaglaban niya. Taun-taon, bumabalik ang alaala ng kaniyang pagkamatay na gumising sa bayang nababalot ng takot. Ang pagpaslang kay Ninoy ay naging mitsa ng malawakang pagkilos ng mga Pilipino at isa sa mahahalagang pangyayaring humantong sa 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 noong 1986. Mula sa isang bala, umalingawngaw ang tinig ng isang sambayanang naghahangad na muling marinig at makapagsalita para sa sarili nitong kinabukasan.

Ang kanyang mga salitang, “The Filipino is worth dying for,” ay hindi lamang isang pahayag tungkol sa pagmamahal sa bayan. Isa itong paalala na ang tunay na diwa ng pagiging makabayan ay hindi nasusukat sa mga salitang ating sinasabi, kundi sa mga pagpapahalagang pinipili nating ipagtanggol kahit walang nakakakita.

Ngayong Ninoy Aquino Day, hindi lamang natin alalahanin ang isang bayani na namatay para sa kanyang paninindigan. Alalahanin din natin ang isang mamamayang naniniwalang may mas mabuting kinabukasan para sa Pilipinas. Sapagkat ang isang sakripisyo ay tunay na nagiging makabuluhan kapag ang mga naiwan ay nagpapatuloy sa ipinaglaban.

The Worship Service for Non-Catholics on the theme “𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲,” kicks off Batch Vesta’s arrival at Punta Villa Resort, Inc. this August 20 signifying the beginning of their Intensive In-House Review for the upcoming Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination 2026.

Leading the worship, Pastor Michael M. Tonete imparts his message of courage towards the PNLE 2026 takers, highlighting Joshua 1:5-9 on the promise of presence and victory in having a courageous faith.

Responding to the message, Mitchy Juanitas of Vesta, sharing that “𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀, 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲, 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀.” Ultimately, urging her batchmates to do it scared, but faithful.

‎West Visayas State University College of Nursing (WVSU CON) Batch Vesta 2026 gathered at Punta Villa on August 20, 2026, for a send-off Eucharistic Celebration marking their arrival for the intensive in-house review in preparation for the 2026 Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination (PNLE).

‎𝐑𝐞𝐯. 𝐌𝐬𝐠𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐨 𝐂. Packed birthday parties. Crowded dinner tables. Holding a newborn baby in your arms. Warm hugs from lolo and lola. These little moments in life are what many live for–what gives life its color.

But behind every belly laugh and every shared dinner plate is a quiet protector that shields every one of these moments.

𝗩𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀. For many, they may be remembered as painful memories: stinging injections and colored band-aids left on a toddler’s leg. But in reality, they are the agents that enable nature’s most sophisticated defense mechanisms, and thus, ultimately allow life to go on smoothly.

Vaccines introduce a harmless piece of a germ, such as a weakened virus, a specific protein, or a set of genetic instructions (mRNA). The immune system then recognizes this intruder, creates specialized proteins called antibodies, and builds a memory bank of the threat. Should the real disease be encountered later, the body recognizes it instantly and wipes it out before it can take hold.

Ultimately, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆’𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀. In essence, it creates a protective shield around newborns, elderly relatives, and immunocompromised neighbors who cannot be vaccinated themselves–evidently as 154 million deaths have been prevented by immunization since 1974.

Every August, public health organizations, doctors, and clinics around the world unite for 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 (𝐍𝐈𝐀𝐌). Established by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this month-long campaign is a timely annual reminder to highlight the importance of vaccination for people of all ages.

Join the celebration this month: check your records, talk to your doctor or pharmacist, and keep your defense system updated. A simple vaccination takes only a moment, but it ensures you never have to miss a second of the life we live for.

𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 || 𝗧𝗕 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗗𝗼 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸

𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟵 marks both the birth anniversary of former President Manuel L. Quezon and 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀 (𝗧𝗕) 𝗗𝗮𝘆 in the Philippines. President Quezon passed away from tuberculosis in 1944; his story has become a symbol for a fight the nation has waged for generations against an invisible, airborne enemy.

𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀 (𝗧𝗕) is caused by 𝙈𝙮𝙘𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙪𝙢 𝙩𝙪𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙨, a bacterium spread through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or spits. It is not spread through casual contact like sharing food or shaking hands, as it takes prolonged exposure in close quarters, which is why household members are most at risk. While TB usually attacks the lungs, it can also affect the kidneys, bones, and liver.

The clearest warning sign is a cough lasting two weeks or longer, especially alongside unexplained weight loss, persistent fever, night sweats, fatigue, or loss of appetite. A cough that won't resolve after two weeks is reason enough to get checked and waiting it out is the biggest mistake people make.

If you suspect TB, go to your nearest rural health unit, barangay health center, or BUCAS (Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services) center, where screening is often free. Diagnosis is faster than it used to be, thanks to ultra-portable AI-powered chest X-rays paired with rapid Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests. Avoid self-medicating or delaying care, since early detection both improves outcomes and limits spread to others. If diagnosed, completing the full treatment course matters enormously as stopping early or taking medication irregularly is what allows drug-resistant TB to develop.

Treatment has improved significantly. Drug-resistant TB, once requiring up to two years of daily pills, is now managed with an all-oral, six-month regimen with much higher success rates, while children with non-severe TB now complete treatment in four months instead of six. Preventive treatment is also available for household members and close contacts, even those exposed to drug-resistant strains, to stop infection before it takes hold.

If someone in your household is diagnosed, encourage them to finish their full treatment as most people become non-contagious within weeks of starting proper medication. Ask about preventive treatment for other family members, improve ventilation at home, and avoid stigmatizing the person, since TB spreads through the air rather than everyday interaction, and stigma is one of the main reasons people delay seeking care.

TB is preventable, detectable, and curable, but only when people act early. A cough lasting more than two weeks is worth a free screening and catching it early protects your health and everyone around you.

Building a family is a big adventure, and every adventure needs a little planning.

Family planning makes that journey more intentional. It encompasses the information, tools, and methods that empower individuals to freely decide if, when, and how many children to have.

Beyond personal autonomy, it is recognized as a vital strategy for reducing maternal and child mortality, and helping families break cycles of poverty.

Observed at every month of August, 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 is a commemoration pursuant to Proclamation No. 429, and is legally grounded from the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012.

This year’s National 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 centered on the theme: “𝗔𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗧, 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗼!” where SMART means:
