When you do something whether in the perspective of work or self development, have you ever felt exhausted because what you do does not seem to make much impact where it should?
Our minds have the habit of blaming others or circumstances when things do not go the way we expect them to be. This is definitely not a positive attribute of the mind and something has to be done to change it.
Reading successful individuals sharing their stories, I have noticed a few things in common about the habits of their minds.
First is accountability: all of them have learned to acknowledge that the only person they can change to help change the situation is themselves. It is a futile act to change others; however, changing yourself has an inevitable effect on others.
I have also seen that all these successful individuals do not simply strike anywhere nor do they strike while the iron is hot. Successful individuals are intentional in their actions and even in their words. They acknowledge that they have limited time, energy, and influence; therefore, they use it where and when it will definitely matter.
What I like most about what I discovered about these successful individuals is they are focused. Most of them did not have the grand idea of changing the world. They just knew that they can do and give much in this specific area. They do not have the word failure in their vocabulary. Mistakes are meant to be learning moments. In their passion to do what little thing they could do best the world simply got infected.
Being accountable, intentional, and focused in whatever one does could definitely make the difference we all yearn for. Are you a ? Are you a ? Are you a ? Whoever you are and in whatever aspect of your life there is a need to be accountable, intentional, and focused.

Do you want your students to develop the ability to transfer learning?
Being able to transfer learning is a skill that must be developed by learners and fostered intentionally by teachers. But what is transfer learning? Transfer learning is the process of identifying skill learned, recognizing opportunities to use and practice the skill, using skill or information in another context, reflecting on skill transfer experience, and finally setting goals related to further use of the skill.
Teachers are primarily responsible in fostering skill transfer and this can be done in many ways. There is a need to recognize and celebrate success in transferring skills so students will be motivated to continue doing so. The teacher must also make explicit connections between classroom learning and real life applications. If possible, the teacher is encouraged to create opportunities for the class to learn in other contexts. Using realia and authentic materials when appropriate increases the relevance of the experience. Most importantly, the teacher must reflect on his/her assumptions and beliefs about how and where learning can be transferred.
To form this Habit of Mind of Resourcefulness, learners must develop transfer of learning skill. This is one of the principles of a spiraled K to 12 curriculum design and one of the main components of competency based curriculum of TESDA.

Did you know that Tony Wagner in his book "The Global Achievement Gap" has defined the expectations for a 21st Century Learner?
Here are the seven survival skills Wagner is advocating:
1. Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
2. Collaboration Across Networks and Leading by Influence
3. Agility and Adaptability
4. Effective Oral and Written Communication Skills
5. Initiative and Entrepreneurialism
6. Accessing and Analyzing Information
7. Curiosity and Imagination
If you are asking why we are changing the Philippine Curriculum to the K to 12 Curriculum, understanding more about the expectations from a 21st Century Learner will give you a clearer picture why.

What have you been up to this Summer? Did you plan a most exciting get away with your family or friends? Did you save up for that escapade to make sure you get the best of food, entertainment and shopping?
It is a great thing to give ourselves some time out and entertainment. Often people prepare so much for their grand vacation and are very willing to spend much as well.
What is difficult to understand is why do most people neglect planning and investing on gaining new skills and continuing professional development.
It is mind boggling why a lot of employees think that if the company they work for want them to be better at work the company should be the one to spend for whatever training and seminars the employees will undergo. It is a fact that companies should invest on their human resources and no one will argue against that. But one thing is for sure. Entrepreneurs do not think that way. They do not wait on others to invest on them rather they make it a priority to invest on themselves by making sure they are well equipped and have the competitive advantage over the others.
Do you have an employee mindset or an entrepreneur mindset?
