First DevCom Pinning Ceremony Successfully Conducted
Fourteen Third-year Bachelor of Science in Development Communication (BS DevCom) students successfully participated in the first pinning ceremony held on May 13, 2026, at the MP Hall of Ifugao State University-Lamut Campus.
The ceremony was attended by Campus Executive Director Mr. Nathaniel F. Dimog and Dr. Marah Joy A. Nanglegan, Program Chairperson. The event was graced by Ms. Florida Robles, Information Officer II of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Lagawe, Ifugao, who served as the inspirational speaker.
In her message, Ms. Robles emphasized that the pinning ceremony is more than a tradition; it is a symbol of trust, responsibility, and readiness. She stressed that the pin represents not only Ifugao State University but also the interns’ skills, values, and potential as future communication professionals.
Ms. Robles also highlighted the vital role of communication in influencing people and communities, especially in an era challenged by fake news and the rapid spread of information across media platforms. She encouraged the students to uphold truth, ethics, and purpose in the practice of Development Communication.
In closing, Ms. Robles reminded the interns, “As future Development Communication professionals, may you always choose truth over convenience, ethics over popularity, and purpose over mere visibility. Use your voice not to spread noise, but to create understanding. Use your skills not only to inform, but also to inspire and empower.”
