The MMSU-CIT College Research Office with the Association of Industrial Technology Students (AITS) successfully wrapped up yesterday, April 29, 2025, the remaining two-day training workshop out of the three-day training workshop designed for third-year students, titled โTraining Workshop on Ethical Clearance Applications.โ With numerous rescheduling due to the high heat index, this highly informative session was still conducted at the CIT-Admin Building, Flexihub to ensure the smooth flow of the seminar, with in mind the comfort of the students and speakers. The continued training instills a strong sense of academic integrity and social responsibility among students, emphasizing the ethical implications of research and the importance of protecting their rights, dignity, and welfare.
Serving as the eventโs resource speakers for the remaining two-day training workshop were Ma'am Faye, the Extension Coordinator of the college, and Dr. Jasper Kim M. Rabago, the IM Focal Person, and both of the resource speakers are presently reviewers under the URERB office of the university. The beloved speakers imparted the vital information about ethical standards, approval processes, and the importance of maintaining integrity in research. Through interactive discussions and detailed presentations, students were guided through each phase of the ethical clearance application process, ensuring they understood the key principles and practical steps involved.
Interactive and practical, the training empowered students with both knowledge and confidence as they prepared for their capstone research projects. Feedback from attendees highlighted appreciation for the clarity, relevance, and accessibility of the content delivered.
The workshop was made possible through the collaboration of the College Research Office and continuous efforts of the Association of Industrial Technology Students (AITS). The event also featured contributions from esteemed faculty members, who shared their expertise and provided valuable insights into the real-world applications of ethical research practices.
The above-mentioned organization plans to host similar workshops in the future, ensuring that students are well-prepared to tackle the ethical challenges that often arise during the course of academic inquiry. By doing so, CIT aims to not only elevate academic standards but also to cultivate a culture of integrity, responsibility, and ethical consideration across all student research projects.
Sincere gratitude is extended to all of the speakers, third-year students, and academic leaders who helped make the event possible, particularly our OIC-Dean Prof. Aldous Asuncion and the two department chairs, for BSIT-Dr. Byron Joseph A. Hallar, and for BAT-Prof. Ferdinand P. Huenda, the OSAS coordinator, Mr. Jerylvin Rabago for consistently supporting programs intended for student development. To the AITS officers who volunteered their time for facilitating the training workshop, as well as to Mr. Christian Jay P. Pungtilan, AITS adviser, and Ms. Christine Q. Baรฑez, College Research Coordinator.
