LOOK: “DILOT 8.0” with the Theme: DILOT ala WOFEX

The DILOT ala WOFEX event highlighted various academic and industry-related activities, including skills demonstrations, industry booths, alumni engagement, and research presentations.

The program commenced with the opening ceremony of Techno Week, held at the MMSU-CIT grounds. This was followed by a skills demonstration in the Social Hall by Magsaysay Institute of Hospitality and Culinary Arts (MIHCA), focusing on opportunities for students aspiring to work in the cruise ship industry. The session also included a demonstration on the preparation of Lumpiang Sisig.

Another highlight of the event was the Capstone Project exhibit of the fourth-year students, where they showcased their innovative products and offered free tasting to attendees.

In the afternoon session, “Get Caffeinated” shared personal experiences and insights in the field, accompanied by a demonstration on coffee preparation.

The skills demonstration activities significantly enriched the students’ learning experiences by allowing them to observe and apply industry-standard techniques in actual practice. These experiences also strengthened their appreciation of industry practices and prepared them for real-world applications in the culinary and hospitality sector.

Students from the Food Processing and Service Management (FPSM) and Culinary Technology (CUL TECH) programs of the Department of Industrial Technology at Mariano Marcos State University–College of Industrial Technology (MMSU-CIT) secured first place in the Garlic Master: A Culinary Clash during the 4th Garlic Festival held on March 27, 2026, at the MMSU Garlic Research Center.

Competing under the team name CIT Golden Cloves, third-year FPSM student Jay Sidney Gumallaoi and first-year CUL TECH student Abbie Valencia impressed judges with their standout entry, “𝑩𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒈-𝑩𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆 (𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒇 𝑶𝒓𝒃𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑻𝒘𝒊𝒏 𝑮𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝑻𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒐 𝑹𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏)”. The dish highlighted garlic as its central ingredient, delivering bold flavors, balanced composition, and an innovative presentation that set it apart from other entries.

Despite having a limited preparation period, the duo demonstrated strong technical skills, creativity, and teamwork qualities honed through their respective academic programs. Their performance reflected the rigorous training and industry-oriented approach of MMSU-CIT in developing future culinary professionals.

The students’ participation was made possible through the support of FPSM and CUL TECH faculty members, student organizations and interest clubs, the employees’ club, and the college administration, which provided resources for training and competition.

The win not only brings pride to MMSU-CIT but also reinforces its commitment to excellence in culinary education and innovation, as its students continue to excel in competitive platforms that celebrate local ingredients such as garlic.
