Meet Sanshaine Ann Cabrera, a proud LCIC alumna and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management graduate, whose OJT experience at Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort became the beginning of her professional journey in the hospitality industry.
From being an OJT student to becoming a casual employee and eventually a regular employee, Sanshaineโs story is a wonderful reminder of how dedication, hard work, and a willingness to learn can turn opportunities into a career.

I am Sanshaine Ann Cabrera, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to share a part of my journey after college.
My journey in the hospitality industry started when I became an On-the-Job Trainee at Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort. During my OJT, I was assigned to the Front Office Department, particularly in the Club Lounge.
At first, I was both excited and nervous because working in a luxury hotel environment was a new experience for me. But as the days passed, I learned how important it is to provide excellent guest service, communicate professionally, work as a team, and pay attention to even the smallest details.
My experience as an OJT became more than just a requirement for graduation. It became an opportunity for me to discover my strengths and develop my confidence in the hospitality industry. I learned how to assist guests, handle different situations, coordinate with other departments, and perform the daily responsibilities of a Club Lounge team member. These experiences helped me understand what it truly means to work in a professional hotel environment.
What made my journey even more meaningful was that after completing my OJT, I was given the opportunity to continue working with Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort. I was first absorbed as a casual employee, and eventually, I was given the opportunity to become a regular employee.
Being absorbed by the same hotel where I completed my OJT is something I am very proud of. It reminded me that the effort, dedication, and lessons I gained during my training were valuable. It also showed me that an internship can become the beginning of a real career when we take every opportunity seriously.
Today, I continue to work as a Club Lounge Officer under the Front Office Department. Every day brings new experiences, new guests, and new challenges that continue to help me grow both professionally and personally.
Looking back, I am thankful to my school, to Lapulapu-Cebu International College, my professors, my OJT supervisors, my colleagues, and everyone who supported me throughout this journey. Most especially, I am grateful for the opportunity to start my career in a place where I was once just an OJT.
To the students who are still preparing for their own OJT and future careers, my advice is simple: Do your best even when no one is watching. Be willing to learn, accept corrections, respect everyone, and always give your best effort. You never knowโyour OJT might become the first step toward your dream career.
From being an OJT student to becoming a casual employee, and eventually a regular employee, my journey taught me that hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn can open doors to opportunities we never expected.
I am proud of where I started, grateful for where I am today, and excited for where this journey will take me next.
