| Lasam SB backs CSU-Lasam access road expansion project
With the growing need to improve accessibility and ensure safer travel to and from the campus, the Sangguniang Bayan of Lasam has formally approved and favorably endorsed the request of Cagayan State University (CSU)–Lasam Campus for the expansion and improvement of its access road.
The endorsement was made through Resolution No. 2026-071 during the 4th Regular Session of the Sangguniang Bayan held on May 25, 2026, recognizing the importance of upgrading the existing road leading to the campus.
Prior to the approval, it must be noted that on May 18, 2026, the Sangguniang Bayan of Lasam, presided over by Vice Mayor Dannah T. Agatep, convened a special session where the CSU-Lasam delegation headed by Campus Executive Officer Florante Victor M. Balatico formally presented the proposed access road expansion project.
The Executive Department, led by Mayor Dandex, was likewise present during the special session, signifying the local government's support and commitment to initiatives that will benefit the campus community.
A joint site visit and evaluation were conducted on May 5, 2026, involving representatives from the Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO) and university officials, to determine the feasibility of the proposed expansion and identify the areas affected by the project.
Based on the findings, the proposed improvement would extend toward the adjacent creek and affect a portion of municipal land measuring approximately 4.4 meters from the edge of the existing access road.
The Local Government Unit recognized the project's potential benefits, particularly in easing traffic movement and enhancing safety for the growing campus population.
For the campus, the proposed road expansion is expected to address long-standing concerns regarding campus accessibility while providing a safer and more convenient route for students, faculty members, staff, stakeholders, and visitors.
