NEWS | CSU Lasam joins WorldSkills Cagayan 2026, showcases tech excellence

Demonstrating its commitment to producing industry-ready graduates, Cagayan State University–Lasam Campus (CSU Lasam) actively participated in WorldSkills Cagayan 2026, which officially opened on March 23 at Aparri Polytechnic Institute (API) in Maura, Aparri, Cagayan.

The two-day competition, organized by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Cagayan Provincial Office, gathered top-performing students and trainees across the province, with CSU Lasam joining representatives from various educational sectors.

CSU’s participation forms part of the broader involvement under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), highlighting the university’s role in advancing technical-vocational excellence alongside DepEd schools, TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs), and Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs).

Provincial Director Genaro Ronald C. Ibay emphasized during the opening ceremony that this year’s competition marks a significant milestone, bringing together institutions in a unified effort to develop globally competitive and highly skilled professionals.

Student participants competed across multiple categories, including emerging and traditional fields such as Graphic Design Technology, Web Technologies, Cooking, Electrical Installations, and Mechanical Engineering CAD, areas where CSU Lasam continues to strengthen its academic and skills training programs.

The event also featured symbolic activities such as the cutting of the chain and torch lighting ceremony, reinforcing unity and inspiring participants.
