NEWS | CSU adjusts operations with flexible work arrangement

To support national energy conservation efforts, Cagayan State University (CSU) has introduced a flexible work arrangement across its campuses, modifying personnel schedules and class delivery beginning March 11.

In a memorandum issued by the Office of the University President, the university directed non-teaching personnel and designated officials to report onsite from Monday to Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., effectively implementing a four-day workweek while maintaining service continuity.

Academic operations were likewise adjusted, with faculty conducting regular onsite classes from Monday to Thursday, while lecture classes scheduled on Fridays will shift to an online modality.

Laboratory classes, however, may continue onsite depending on course requirements, while graduate school classes will proceed according to their existing schedules.

The directive aligns with Memorandum Circular No. 114, which requires government institutions to implement energy-saving measures amid rising power demand. #

NEWS | CSU adopts four-day workweek amid energy crisis

In compliance with the Office of the President Memorandum Circular No. 114 Series of 2026, Cagayan State University will implement a four-day workweek and adjust working schedules to conserve energy.

Based on the memorandum released by the CSU Office of the University President, onsite regular classes shall be conducted from Monday to Thursday, with lecture classes conducted online on Friday and Saturday while being monitored by the college deans.

Student activities and exams scheduled on Friday, March 13, shall be held on the next regular working day.

However, laboratory activities shall still be conducted onsite regardless of the schedule.

Faculty members and administrative personnel with teaching overloads shall render their classes after 6:00 p.m. on Mondays-Thursdays or on Fridays and Saturdays.

However, all graduate classes shall be held regularly as scheduled and the College of Law and College of Medicine will make appropriate arrangements according to the particular needs of their departments.

This setup will take effect tomorrow, March 12, until the Memorandum Circular No. 114, s. 2026 is lifted or overridden by other issuances.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the four-day workweek amongst government agencies last Friday, March 9, as part of the government’s measures to save energy resources amid the conflict in the Middle East.
