Most of the countries around the world are affected by the unexpected threat brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. This has imposed restrictions and several measures which resulted to the temporary and permanent closure of many businesses including various food industries. For some workers, the work from home strategy are the new normal practices. But for food industry workers, they are required to perform duties in their usual workstation. Hence, keeping all workers in the food production safe and healthy is crucial to surviving the existing pandemic. Maintaining the flow and availability of food along the food chain and to sustain trust and consumer confidence in the safety of foods should always be prioritized.
The Bicol University Regional Center for Food Safety and Quality Assurance (BURCFSQA), in its aim to provide food safety related training, workshop and seminar, supports food industry and other stakeholders to comply with food safety standards. The general objective of this activity is to highlight the importance of food safety and to enhance awareness among local food enterprises and those involved in the service of quality and safety of foods along the entire food systems. This is in line with the current risks and restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
