Martial Law is not just a chapter in our history, It is a history written in the testimonies of those who were killed, tortured, imprisoned, silenced, and disappeared—and in the courage of those who stood up and fought for freedom.

We must never forget and always remember the victims and carry the stories of those who refused to be silenced and those who were silenced.

Every 2nd day of Septermber, the province of Albay honors the fierce courage and patriotism of General Simeon Arboleda Ola, a native of Guinobatan who became one of Bicol’s greatest revolutionary icons. He was recognized as the last Filipino general to surrender to American forces in 1903, his unwavering resistance remains a testament to the unyielding spirit of Albayanos. He is one of the heroes that should be remembered and recognized.
