𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 | 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟯

Look back at the events from the third day of the recently concluded . Every kick, spike, shot, stroke, and display of strength came from the determination set in BUeños’ minds.

On September 16, 2026, BUeños did not only fight for themselves, but also for the colleges and institutions they represent. Bringing skill and passion to the game, they paved their way through the elimination rounds, competing across various brackets and sets.

With intense action, BUeños proved that games do not work on their own; the thrill is driven by the minds and passion of every contender. They showed that the biggest part of the competition is not just having the ball or instrument in hand but handling the game in one's mind.

Beyond awards and recognition are delegates from across different colleges and institutions who fought with pride and heart. They showcased what it truly means to compete and experience life beyond the four corners of the classroom.

The Bicol University Olympics 2026 officially opened on September 15, 2026, at the BU Sports Albay Complex under the theme "Beyond the Finish Line: Compete to Inspire, Rise to Empower," with the BU Albay Magayon Dance Troupe leading the opening salvo alongside BU athletes and the Mr. and Ms. BU Olympics candidates.

Among the messages of support extended by local officials — including Legazpi City Mayor Hisham Ismail, Ako-Bicol Rep. Alfredo "Pido" Garbin Jr., and 2nd District Rep. Carlos Loria — was the announcement that gold medalists in the sporting events will receive educational assistance as part of their prize.

Representing the College of Engineering, BUCENG took its turn in the presentation of delegations, with Engr. Fernan D. Tematera delivering the college's message before the hoisting of the BUCENG delegation banner.

𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈| 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

With Civil Engineering offering more than one path to pursue, third-year CE students gathered at the Electrical Engineering Building on September 19 for COMPASS 2026: Navigating CE Specializations, an event where they gained insights into the five fields they may specialize in as they move forward in the profession.

The event brought together professionals from various Civil Engineering specializations, with Engr. Owen Morga opening the morning session with Construction Management. The discussion was followed by Engr. Carmella Mirandilla for Transportation Engineering and Engr. Nezzie Marie Bulawan for Water Resources Engineering.

The afternoon session continued with Geotechnical Engineering, discussed by Engr. Neil Lotivio, and Structural Engineering, presented by Engr. Froilan Conmigo.

Through the discussions, students were given a closer look at the work, opportunities, and various professional paths associated with each specialization. The event aimed to guide them toward informed decisions with their interests and skill sets aligned with their career paths.

“Through this event, I learned a lot about each specialization, especially the ones that I really wasn't leaning towards choosing before,” said Gabb Afable, a third-year student from Block C, in an interview.

Afable also expressed his gratitude to the third-year level officers for organizing the event. “It can really assist those who are still undecided about their specialization,” he added.

COMPASS 2026 was headed by Third-Year Level Auditor Euane Peoro and co-headed by Third-Year Level Treasurer Lander San Buenaventura.

𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐍𝐀𝐍 | Bilang bahagi ng mas malalim na pag-alala sa masalimuot na kasaysayan ng Martial Law sa ilalim ng rehime ni Marcos Sr., nakikiisa ang The Truss sa panawagan ng iba't ibang pahayagan sa rehiyon na hindi makalimot sa mga suliraning naglulugmok sa lipunan at sa kalayaan sa pagpapahayag, pati na sa pagtatamasa sa mga karapatan ng bayan.

Sa ika-54 na taon ng paggunita sa Martial Law ngayong araw, Setyembre 21, inilunsad ng College Editors' Guild of the Philippines - Bicol, sa pamamagitan ng mga kasapi nito, ang mas malawak na pagbibigay-diin sa mga problema ng bayan na kailanman ay hindi dapat kalimutan. Hangad nito ang mas malalim na pag-alala ng lahat sa mga pang-aabusong dapat ay nag-iwan na ng aral sa lipunan.

The Bicol University College of Engineering College Student Council (BUCENG-CSC) has released the duly signed excuse letter covering all BUCENG students on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 3:00 PM onwards, to allow students to attend and actively support the Search for Mr. and Ms. College of Engineering (MMCENG) 2026.

Students are reminded that the excusal covers only their physical absence from class. All assigned activities, outputs, quizzes, and other academic requirements must still be completed and submitted within the timeframe set by their respective instructors.

𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐒 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 | : IPESR clinches Gold in Men's Volleyball; BUCENG takes Silver once again

The Institute of Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation (IPESR) clinched the championship in the Men's Volleyball tournament, defeating the College of Engineering (BUCENG) in the finals held at EM's Barrio Court this evening, September 18, 2026.

With set scores of 25-23, 25-16, and 25-23, IPESR sealed the gold against their rivals. Meanwhile, BUCENG secured another silver finish for their college.
